I went for the first time this year since I live in Dallas.
Wow! I went straight to the nosler booth and asked them when they were bringing back the .458 300 grain partition. They laughed and said that wasn't the first time they had heard that today!
Next I hit the ruger booth and...
I checked my loads and got the following. Everything is Remington brass and cci br2 primers.
130 ab I was using 47.5 gr of 4831sc but I stopped shooting these because the brass life was not good at all. Lost primer pockets after a couple of uses. I gave up on 130 ab after I had to hit max or...
I have a Remington 700 lss MFN rifle in 260 with 1:9 twist. I tried 130 accubonds for a long time. The loads got too hot before I got really good accuracy. I used mostly rl19 and 4831sc. I found I got much better accuracy with 4831sc and 125 grain partition. When I get back home I will look it...
I found the pillars from ernie the gunsmith's site. They are already cut for the angles and left a little long. They seemed like the best pillars to get, but I wasn't going to get those because I didn't have a mill or lathe to shorten them to the right length. Was it pretty easy to do with a...
I have an fn spotter in 300 wm that I am getting anew scope for. Thought it would be a good time to pillar bed it. I have done a successful glass bed just not with pillars. I was thinking of buying the scorehigh m70 kit. Any recommendations?? Will probably use acraglas again worked great last...
You got here ahead of me. I was going to say win 70 in 264 win mag. Just to be different I will say a featherweight in 6.5 creedmoore or 260 remington.
I have been looking at getting an AR10 in 6.5 creedmore or 260 remington thinking it would be a terrific repeating hunting rifle. Would love to have a rock river but looks like I will have to go DPMS to get it.
However, after seeing this new thread about boring out a barrel got me thinking...
I was in your same dilemna about 3 months ago. Walked into a pawn shop and saw a beautiful Model 70 458WM Super Express with controlled round feed not a scratch looked brand new. I had been looking for that exact rifle in 375H&H for awhile with no luck. Difference this one was only $895...
Mountain Rifle LSS with the brown laminate stock. It had the dreaded J lock but I had that changed out to the standard bolt shroud and added the tubbs firing pin and spring.
Stop it, Stop it, Stop it. No more talk of custom 6.5's on winchester 70 actions I won't be able to take it anymore. I have a 260 remington in a 700 LSS but after seeing JD's results and now having 3 winchester 70's myself(2 fn .270 win and 300 win and 1 classic in 458 wm).
I am dying...
I hear ya Scotty about the bedding on the scope.
The best advice I ever got was put two coats of release agent on everything you might get bedding on and then put three coats of release agent on everything else.
Finally got the .270 stainless featherweight all setup with the new swarovski Z3 in S&K rings and bases and took it to the range.

I took it to the range and this is the target from shots 4 thru 10(first 3 were sighting the rifle)...
Sorry dropped off the world the last week. I shot a friend of mine's x-bolt in 300 wsm with 150's and pleasantly suprised by the accuracy of that rifle and the relatively mild recoil. I know it will get worse as you move up in grains, but it seemed pretty mild mannered. I know what you mean...
DrMike - I will answer to aggie. I live in Frisco which is a suburb of Dallas just right north of Plano which you probably have heard of. I work for a very large commercial construction firm and when I first started with them in 98 we were just finishing a big expansion to the Dallas VA and I...
Drmike I saw on old thread and you have a fn winchester in 300wsm?? Is it the featherweight or extreme weather?? How do you like it as far as feeding and ease of reloading vs 300 win. I have the winchester sporter in 300 win and loved it, but ever since I got the new 270 win in the stainless...
Tommy Lee was the drummer for Motley Crue who married Canada's own Pamela Anderson. I thought for sure you would know that one DrMike??
BK Keith Richards would be a great example from that generation or maybe John Bonham Led Zeppelin!
This forum is like going to rehab and finding out your personal addication counselor is Tommy Lee!!
Although once again cannot contradict the advice given by Dr. Mike just found it amusing.
I will add don't pass up 6.5 especially a .260 if you ever have the chance, you...
I have to agree with you whole heartedly on the 6.5 125g partition. I kept trying to get the 130 Accubond to shoot in my .260 and when I finally got it to .8 I was blowing primer pockets after 1 or 2 loadings and getting flat primers.
The first box of bullets I bought for my .260 was the 125...
