WARNING!! WARNING!! Don't drink the Dr's cool aid. I did and got a 300 win mag SC Model 70 Sporter.
Then the phrase became "Life is just not complete without a second Winchester in the safe!" and now I have an SC Stainless featherweight in .270
Will the madness ever stop...................
My favorite is Butch's Bore Shine for bore solvent and if I want it super clean follow it up with JB.
I use Butch's oil on all my bolt action rifles and BFCLP for everything else.
Thanks DrMike I took your advice and am now the proud owner of a brand new Z3 3.5X10X42 with the BRH reticle. This scope is amazing can't wait to get it on a rifle. The reticle is going to take a little practice. It has the mil dots and the wind drift bars, looks complicated but with a little...
Does anyone have an A/V or Z3 Swarovski that they could give an opinion on? I really like the Z3 because it is slim and very light in the 3.5X10X42BRH variety. Would like to put it on a new fn winchester stainless featherweight in 270 win. Is there a big design difference in the A/V or Z3 or...
I have the Lee plastic scoop set, where did you get the stainless spoons, what brand?
1. I have always used the inertia hammer style pullers, do you prefer the die type and what brand seems to work the best? The operation of the hornady seems like it would work better?
2. I am glad I wrote...
I haven't been reloading all that long about 4 or 5 years. Recently someone suggested a Lee neck sizing die to me and this thing is amazing. I have been trying to neck size with a full length die this whole time. Got me thinking what else I have been missing.
Dies: I currently use a redding...
beretz I was all set to take your advice but.....
First of all I broke the first rule of shopping at bass pro or cabelas never believe the idiot on the phone. It is about 45 minutes so I called to see what they had this week and they said they only had extreme weather's, so I had resigned...
Well I haven't made it to cabelas yet. But I think I have pretty much settled on an extreme weather in 270 win. If they don't have one I could probably be talked into a 270 wsm.
I am a big fan of a 130 grain bullet for deer which is what I hunt the most and not many calibers sling a 130 grain...
Thanks for all the input. I have looked around a little and seem to like the feel of the stainless featherweight more than the extreme weather. I think I am going to go to Cabelas after this ice storm passes and get me a stainless featherweight in a short action most likely a 270wsm or 243...
Maybe I should amend this a bit. I think the long term plan would be to turn the twins into model 70 triplets. 300Win on the top end and 243 on the bottom end. Really looking for the one in the middle.
Actually I have always wanted a 280. I have thought about buying one of the stainless featherweights and rebarrel to .280 or .260. Unfortunately would probably have to sell remington mountain rifle to fund the rebarrel.
I think I am just getting bored with the .260 all it does is kill...
Help me complete it, I am looking for a new rifle for the second half of my pair. I currently have the sc model 70 sporter in 300 win and it has sold me. I thought I was a remington rifle guy to the end until I bought this model 70. Also having to pay upwards of 600 + for remingtons probably...
Thanks for replies. Something i found interesting after consulting nosler #6. If you use 125 grain partition as standard.
260 24" tube = 45G IMR4350 2950; Mine only has a 22" so it would probably be around 2850
6.5-284 26" tube = 50G IMR4350 3052
6.5-06 24" tube = 48G IMR4350 3088
6.5 Rem Mag...
I have been thinking of custom barreling a rifle for a long time and couldn't settle on a caliber. After reviewing the nosler book this thing looks like a badass if you can get in a 24" tube rifle. I have a .260 that might make a good candidate has had a lot of work done to trigger aciton etc...
Thanks for the replies. I am not that great with the pictures so I called Leupold instead as Pop suggested. They told me it is detent for the erector assembly inside the main tube, I think he said a spring or something rests on it. I just thought it odd it is visible on the outside of the...
Anyone out there?
I know some people have these new scopes or has anybody noticed it on the bottom of the main tube. I know it isn't just mine all the scopes at bass pro had it.
I just bought a new VX3 4.5X14X40 LR and noticed something different than my older VXII. On the underside in front of the dials there is a small recess about the size of the end of a paper clip, does anyone know what this is for? I checked four different models all LR before I bought it and...
Here are a couple of better pictures outside shows it off a little better.
I took the adjustable screw all the way out like the book says but my trigger gauge is still saying 3.5 to 3.75 lbs. I have no complaints about the rest of the trigger just the pull weight. I talked to winchester and...
Thanks for all the help guys, I got some RL22 and 7828 for 50% off so I am going to give those a try and probably get some H1000 as well.
Somebody was asking about pictures so here they are. This is my first controlled round feed action rifle and so far I like it a lot. I specifically bought...
When I bedded my Remington 700 I learned one important thing the least of your worries will be what the acraglass won't stick to.
Someone gave me some advice it might have been on this website but I can't remember which turned out to be more true than anything else. "Put two...
