thanks, i am going to begin with 200's when they show up. i really like the 300rum and this krieger. this ruger's accuracy exceeds any bolt gun i have shot.
just got it back from gunsmith. deer rifle (but not with 165 ballistic tips;) last i used the chrono was my m77v 25-06 everything was up to par 100bst at 3300fps.
working on load development on sat. and put up the oehler. started with 98gr retumbo and worked up to 105, at 105 had sticky extraction and loose primer pockets. found best load at 101 but decided to run 3 of the 105's through the screens, printer looked like this:
1-3720
2-3692
3-3706
can this...
if you do a lot of loading i think it makes more sense, for me i buy 1lb at a time it is just better for me to spend 20-30$ here and there when i need it. but i might have to change if i continue to play with the rum's.
agreed, i also think that reloader 22 is about as good as it gets for the winnie. there are better powders than retumbo for the 300 especially for the lighter bullets. but make no mistake for the 165 in my ruger it plain ass shoots and my #1 is pretty picky.
i think it will do great with the 200grainers, when i run through all my 165's im going to dump some behind the 200 part.going to chrono the 165's one of these days. they should be close to 3300-3340 with a 26'' pipe. i am looking forward to loading the 200's with this powder.
my load is nosler...
i have been playing with retumbo in my #1 for a couple months and the best load i have ever found for this rifle is 90gr retumbo behind 165bt in a nosler case. i don't think it is supposed to work from what others say but it seems to repeat the accuracy everytime i take it to the range...
i have been playing with rl-22 the last month or so with the 165's but accuracy is so so (.75)and it is very temp sensative from what i can tell. velocities were all over from 40 to 80 degrees and the load i had worked with last fall 79.0 165bt are locking up my action in the 70 degree temps...
i have a load worked up for rl-22 (76) and h-1000 (81) i have some retumbo and would like to try it when i get time. i might have to pick up some rl-25 one of these days and give that a try also.
i understand and i agree with you, but i always wanted a 30-378 and the #1 is a favorite of mine. i know it is unpractical but it is just one of them things i would like to do. i like the cartridge and always wanted a rifle chambered for it. i know i am not gaining much over the winnie, i just...
have a newer (black pad) #1-b in 300 win and was thinking about roy's
30-378. this is the rifle i would like to use for a conversion of this type. what do you think?? how big of a deal to convert from 300 win to the weatherby round? i know it may not be the most practical, but it would be 8)
