I had a m96 for several years. Got it from Big 5 for $100 even...lol. It was a Carl Gustav, I believe the Husquevarna rifles are more desirable? It shot as well as I could with the iron sights. I remember being enamored by the famous mauser action well before I could afford a nice commercial...
Settling for now on 29.7gr Leverevolution with the 50gr TNT. Need to load up some more and verify it's right at 3500fps and about 1/2" group it looks like.
Still need to test some more with the 75gr hpbt...
I used a camera arm and drilled out the front swivel stud hole on the bipod to fit the 1/4" stud on the arm. Arm was about $30. I had to make the aluminum extension rods. Two sizes to accommodate barrel lengths from 28" to 20".
I saw it online somewhere. I wanted to be able to shoot groups while measuring velocity without the magnetospeed possibly affecting anything. I've heard that it doesn't really but???
Here's my setup for the magnetospeed. This isn't my 7mm-08 but it was from today. It works but it's a bit of a pain as the muzzle blast pushes it down and I was having to reset it for every shot.
Finally got back around to this. Here's my data. Two velocity readings because I was using my prochrono and magnetospeed at the same time. First time with the magnetospeed so I wasn't going to trust it 100%. Couple of weird numbers but the two chronographs were generally pretty close.
Interesting on the misfire with the cci 250M. A few weeks ago I had 2 or 3 with cci 450M. Never had that happen to me before. QC slipping at CCI because of the huge demand?
Is your barrel throated for a 2.950" oal with the 180gr Eld-M? You may not be able to go that long otherwise. Another .150" of powder space could change that list a bit though. I'd say those are basically starting loads as well. I doubt you will see any pressure signs until you get above...
Because it cuts wind like a knife! Not going to be flat, but if you are dialing then who cares. Need a 1 in 8 twist though for sure. My 7mm-08 is a 9.5" twist so a 162 is the heaviest I could go. I shoot the 180s in my 7mm rem mag...8 twist.
You asked this 3 years ago....lol.

Not trying to come off in a negative way, I never would have known except I saw it below as a recommended thread.
I always start at .005" off the lands. I've played with deeper, but so far I pretty much stay at .005". Never stuck a bullet and yes I know the bullet is getting further away as I shoot and the throat erodes...
For reference, I saw a deer killed with a 50gr .224 varmint ballistic tip. Shot behind the shoulder. I don't recommend it, but it didn't take 5 steps. 140gr 7mm ballistic tip will be very effective if used in the same fashion.
Definitely, standouts to me are 25 prc, 7mm-300 prc (This sounds like a beast!) and beltless 7mm rem mag. 6.5-270 wsm was pretty interesting but I'm guessing performance is very close to the now "common" 6.5 prc?
