There have been many sightings here in Wisconsin over the years. Thought you might like to read this article. http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/sports/o ... ing-season.
Open season year round, all you need is a small game license of the year. No limit. Take as many as you want. Kill on sight.
When I hit them with my 40 gr. 222's, there isn't much left to photograph. Really blows the hell out of them. I thinking of getting some heavier 60 grain bullets and see how that performs.
Fur buyer doesn't want them either.
With over 20 years success getting drawn in Wyoming, my elk and deer tag applications are sent in for 2013.
Hope my luck continues as I LIVE for the hunts and camping in the mountains each fall. I must have been a mountain man in my other life.
Two Glock's at this house.
Mine = Glock 23, 40 cal. three full capacity mags
Hers = Glock 27, 40 cal. two full capacity mags.
I need to start loading for the two Glocks as I retire my two 357's,
a Colt Trooper", 6' Barrel (Blue and like new),
a S&W Model 66 (Stainless), 4" barrel
Well not...
Like many of you, I have numerous "fired" cases and attempt to keep them separated by the number of times they have been fired. This can be a tedious task when one shoots a lot.
I was wondering what you do to keep the cases marked and/or separated?
Looking good!
Unfortunately, I won't be able to get out to the range for a while around here, we are in the middle of a good 'ole fashion blizzard. Wx guy calling for 8-17" of snow and winds 20-45 mph. Definitely gonna be a white Christmas.
Bino's arrived via Fed-Ex yesterday and look like a new pair.
Nikon claimed to be very busy when I last spoke with them indicating the bino's "round trip" would take about a month due to back-log. They were pretty accurate on their estimate.
Mission complete.
Know anybody coming to the states for Christmas? Might be an easy way to get your book hand delivered? Just a thought, because I would NEVER want to beat the gov't out of their share. (Note I did not say, "fair share")
No such luck getting a new pair. Nikon emailedback and advised the repair (just have to recoat that particular lens) would cost $10.00 plus return shipping @ $12.50. I paid for the repair with my Visa card right away (earlier this month).
Got a bill in the mail yesterday saying I owe them...
Amazing how great minds think alike.
I told him that trimming to greater than -.010 MIGHT cause him some issues but he should stay as closs to the .010 as possible to avoid problems with case stretching. He has some cases that are trimmed to minus .020 which I said are too short. Then, am I...
To solve a friendly disagreement with someone who claims to be an experienced reloader, what is the opinion of the learned on this site?
What is the "standard" +/- tolerance for case trim length?
And, what is too long or too short?
The "mic" is open.......
I'm curious, has anyone ever tried coarse sand as a tumbling media? In my working world, we used small "rock like" tumbling media to remove heavy burrs from small machined parts. Thought perhaps coarse sand might work too. Granted it would be a bit heavier in the tumbler bowls and MAY have an...
Better get used to seeing higher prices for powder and all reloading components here in the U.S. The "imposter in chief" wants MUCH higher taxes on all such stuff. I am planning to stock up now.
I feel bad for you guys up in Canada.
I've been quite fortunate to sucessfully hunt numerous species here in No. America. Don't ever expect to hunt in Africa so won't include those. The things I still would like to do is:
Take a nice bull moose (60" or better)
Catch a 100# Halibut
Take a 6 x 6 bull elk
Take...
Now that my fall big game hunting season is over, I'm retreating to the reloading bench with the thought of creating an elk load for my 300 H&H. While I did get lucky on my cow elk using 140 gr AB's in my 280, I thought something a bit heavier might be better medicine for critters the size of a...
Contacted Nikon via email and they have jumped on the fix right away. I will be sending the bino's off this week. So far, good customer service response. :)
During my recent outing to Wyoming, I must have caused some damage to the lens face on my Nikon 10-42 Monarch Binos. I have no idea how that happened as I carry them around my neck using a shoulder harness and INSIDE my jacket. Most often, I keep the lens covers on them but alas, must have...
I'm doing some reloading again after burning up a bunch of old stuff in my 300 H&H.
I want to prepare some new loads using 165 gr Nosler AB's and PT's.
I've got lots of IMR 4831 and RL22 on hand, some 4350 and plenty of WLR primers.
Anyone have a good load for those two bullets using what...
To Fotis....."Where do you hunt in my home state?"
We hunt west and south of Buffalo about 40 miles. Not the easiest of country to climb up and down in but it works for me. At age 75, I can ALMOST keep up with the young guns but at a slower pace. I've spent my last 23 birthdays in Wyoming...
Just returned from my annual (20+ years now) trip to Wyoming. Drew three different tags for antelope, deer and elk. Took two different rifles along this year, a Rem 700 in .280, shooting 140 gr. Nosler Accubonds and my custom .300 Win mag. shooting 165 gr. Accubonds. Both rifles/rounds...
