What late season tag do you have?? If you are going to use any scents I would use the harmon blacktail deer lures. Also if you have a buck spotted rattling can be very effective. Good luck.
My brother has had great success with the 168gr TTSX in his 300wby. Loaded with imr 7828 was under 3/4". I tend to like a heavier bullet so I wouldnt recommend the 130gr in such a magnum caliber. Good luck though. The 180 or 200gr accubond would be a hammer in your rifle.
Thats a great deal on that 270. Those guns are a great gun for the price and thats an even better price. Hope he gets to use it this year! If you start loading I would stick with the 140gr accubonds with either h4831sc or RL22.. Good luck.
Just started getting 2nds myself. Have found them to be extremely accurate in my 223. Maybe you just need to tweak the load a bit more or try another powder.
Thanks guys. Im considering not even turning them since after measuring the lapua its pretty good. Just thought maybe cleaning them up a bit would make them a little more uniform once fire formed. I just got a neck turned because my brother has to turn the necks on his 6-06 due to a tight...
Yote superformance is the new light mag but not as much pressure and same speed according to hornday.. I hope it comes out soon.. Love to see what speeds people can get with it.
So I just got my 243AI set up and was going to turn the neck on the brass I bought. Its 243 win Lapua brass and was going to turn about .001 just to clean the neck up. My question is should I do this before fire forming to 243AI? Will it harm anything during fire forming? Or should I do it after...
Hardpan What is the OAL you are using and what powder?? If you can't get it to group any tighter maybe a switch in powder would help you out. I know my brother 300wby has been very good with IMR 7828. Also most of the accurate loads were a OAL of 3.560. Good luck
I totally agree with you and can't wait to try the VLD Hunting on some antelope and deer this year. I was just saying a 210gr berger in the 30-378 is one heck of a long range weapon and much flatter than a Barnes. I hope to find my own conclusions on how well they work on game. I am a big...
Thanks guys! Its my little brothers rifle and Ill get some pics tonight.. Seems like it will be a great shooter as the test group shot .435". Hoping Dr.Mike will give his input!
Big squeeze I love the VLD commercial you stated. They are comparing such different bullets its unreal to me. Everyone knows barnes bullets arent know for a high BC like a berger. I will be testing some 210gr in my 3-378 and let you know the results. Also loading some 95gr in my 243AI and hope...
Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone has any pet loads for a 6mm-06. Looking at loading some 90gr scirroco and etips. Also some 105 bergers. I have a lot of powders to try. Any starting points appreciated. Thanks
Id say shape the stock but dont finish it yet. Then bed the action and check the barrel channel and finish fit. I think your pencil mark looks pretty good. Id say shoulder the rifle and find your prefered hand placement on the forend. I like about 2-3" beyond that for stability and sling...
300RUM for sure! If it were a deer hunt Id say try the 257 but since its elk just take the RUM and have some fun. Good luck and put down a monster!
Not to hijack your post but since we are on the subject. Got an Antelope/deer hunt in WY this year. Having trouble deciding between the new 243AI...
Army I would say that .88" group will work for a caribou. I wouldnt worry about the speed as much as the accuracy. Also many things can contribute to slower FPS than published such as shorter barrel, loose chamber, rough barrel, different powder lots. etc... Just load some more 140gr accubonds...
