    Old Fixed 4x or 6x

Sorry, don't have 1 to spare But: Check out local your local pawnshops and gun shows. I've found several old scopes for the same period correct reason as you want. And the prices were about in your range & somewhat negotiable.

    Light weight = More Sensitive?

ST, From bench, I also put sandbag on my shoulder for the heavy kickers.

    Light weight = More Sensitive?

I don't like shooting from lead sleds. From sandbags. I have not noticed; "that light weight rifles with thinner profile barrels are more sensitive to consistency in shooting form"

    Lucky group.

Was working up 2 reloads in 458WM to shoot to same POA. Iron sights - rifle on sandbags at 50 yds. Group was 1/16" CTC. 1 was a 450 Swift-A. The other was a 450 Barnes solid:

    Old school powders.

I always kept some H4895, IMR-4320 and IMR-4350 around. I like to run several different powders thru 5 or 6 steps with ant new to me rifle cartridge. Some reloading friends and I share powders that the others want to try. Funny thing is that, Those 3 powders can work so many different cartridges...

    Feelings when you are killing?

Feelings??? or Thoughts: My 1st thought after pulling the trigger is to the work bolt again! My 1st thought after I'm sure its down, is What's the best way to get this to and in the truck. My 1st thought after its loaded, is How to quickly get this thing skinned and quartered My 1st...

Ever had one of THOSE rifles?

I got 2 pre-64s - One is stock the other custom, but both are very fussy. Over the years, I been able to get 1 load for each that will go 1/2" at 100yds. So they both can be very accurate, but if someone gave up too soon, They would be left thinking both were just so-so hunting accurate.

    Good day at the range.

Yeah, The Timney triggers I've used had the side safety, which required even more fitting. Then since you had to mess with the stock, Its no longer original. So only did this to shooters that were not collectable. That's why I mentioned the Huber triggers. They will just drop in and will make...

Ever had one of THOSE rifles?

Blkram, I, too, had a Rem M700 that would shoot everything into what would look like a <1"group at 100 yds. It was a 270W. Most any of my reloads and all factory loads I put through it. Didn't seem to matter on bullet weight either. I had a pic of what looked like a 7/8" group, But was 8...

    Good day at the range.

ShadeTree, I've never felt a Mauser trigger I liked. Tried smoothing them - Helped but wasn't still wasn't happy with results. Tried a Huber drop-in trigger as an inexpensive option. It helped more but was still not satisfied on scoped bolt rifles. When with an adjustable Timney trigger and...

What is your next dream rifle?

I don't NEED another rifle, BUT, I passed on a custom stocked 1956 Win M70 super grade in 300HHsome time ago. That has been haunting me ever since. So I guess that was and would be my "dream rifle".

    Corroded Accubonds

My post wasn't pointed at you Guy. Think you got part of THE (or A) story. I was wondering what the rest of the story was? If any knew. The comments regarding corrosion got me thinking; What's there that would lead to corrosion?

    Corroded Accubonds

So does anyone know what the root cause was? Like what was th1s shortcut? How did it lead to corrosion?

    Sensible Cartridges

My experience that "to add something significant above and beyond these" Is to either: Get 50% more bullet weight at same velocity OR Get 500 FPS faster with the same bullet weight.

    Sensible Cartridges

Sensible Cartridges only make sense when compared to the basics: US: 22LR, 30-30, 270, 308, 30-06 Europe: 22LR, 6.5x55, 7x57, 8x57 "Sensible Cartridges" for your hunting would have to add something significant above and beyond these!
