    Shotshell Reloading...worth it?

Yeah, I have reload shotgun shells for many years. Use to shoot a lot - Not so much now. I still have supplies though. And will load them up as needed. Can't speak as someone that is just getting started. But, am seeing many good buys on "used" presses and supplies. Think many thought about...

    Figuring out Optimal Charge Weight

TackDriver, I agree with DrM, Both rifles are shooting very well to hold those grouping over the 15 to 21 shot strings!!! However, I'd interject that there IS NO statistical difference in those 3 shot groupings. And would like to see the velocities of the shots if you chronoed them? I assume...

    Refinish opinion.

Yep - Me too, I'd refinish it. Done a bunch. As long as the refinish doesn't detract from the value, I do it.

What animal do you consider the most difficult to hunt

Chase Texas hogs at night with dogs and a knife is the most strenuous and with health hazards. A mature/free-roaming white tail buck in South Alabama requires the most scouting and hunt planning.

Can't decide (updated Browning BLR 358 Win)

Gerry, I know I'm coming in late. But have just read your thread. I can attest to the iron sights on my Rem/Zastava M798. Hooded front sight w/ rear leaf; Both adjustable and locks down tight. Great sight picture and they both lock down tight to take recoil. If that Zastava your thinking...

    338 barrel length?

Yeah, I'm thinking 24 to 26", too. This length will help get more velocity appropriate from a 338 Win mag.

choosing which rifle to hunt with

I've sporterized, customized and built many rifles for a specific hunting purpose. This way I can pick the "best" suited rifle for many different kinds of hunts. Blkram's post kinda describes my thinking for choosing my main rifle "best" for the hunt. However, when hunting away from home I take...

    Wood Rifles Don't Shoot

Thx longrangehunter. LOL...But its not MINE anymore! Caught my eye when an older member of our deer lease was slimming down on his rifles. Its a "carbine" made in 1942. Made the mistake of showing my new found prize to my wife when I got home. She wanted to shoot it and then claimed it :( My...

    Loads for upcoming deer season.

Thx Chris, Its a Rebarreled VZ-24 Mauser in 9,3x62. Used a 24" 1:12 Shilen barrel that tapers from 1.2" to 0.85" 6" from receiver, then to 0.70" at muzzle. Weighs in at 8 3/4 Lbs with that 4X scope. Had the rear action hump milled smooth so a rear scope base could be added using 2 screws like...

    Loads for upcoming deer season.

Yep, I, too, like my Timney trigger! My working rifle: Kinda plain, but I think it has a lot of character and It's my only 100% DRT I have or have ever owned.

    Parallax Adjustment

I use the front parallel scopes on my 22LR target rifle. Will adjust both parallax and rear ocular for the best sight picture at whatever distance we are shooting (i.e. 25, 50 or 100 yds). When hunting its set for 50 yards and left there. I don't hunt farther than 300 yds with CF rifles. Most...

FOTIS, Great work! My way of organizing is to have a Walmart bag for each cartridge. Yours puts mine to shame.

    338 06 and ????? Projectile

You already have a pretty good load. If I were to try some to get better out to 350 yards, Think I'd look real hard at that 215 gr SGK. A 0.485 BC and the reputation for accuracy Sierra has, would put it 1st on my list to try for something better at long ranges!

    This has me stumped.

FOTUS, Grafs has Wby 250 NPTs on sale: https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/pr ... ctId/73413 If it won't shoot those accurately, You could make a good case to possibly send it back for a tune-up??? If it does, keep the remaining portion as a standard if you have any accuracy problems in...

Tough Bullet Opinions - Large Game

jim, The Swift-As are similar to the partition in that both have the "partition" The SAs just have the "partition" farther forward. Thus they don't expand quite as fast and as wide. But they hold the "mushroom" shape and don't lose very much weight; they retain +90% verses about 70% for the...
