I have a 26 Nosler and just think the Weatherby is too much of a good thing. I had it built as a dual purpose hunting rifle. I'll be hunting big Missouri white tails with it this year and am really undecided if it will be the 140gr accubond or a mono metal, ranges could get pretty close where...
So I just got back from a gun show and to say the least I am disgusted at the Ammunition price gouging that is taking place there. Standard ball range ammo was being marked up 250-300%, and people are lining up and clamoring to pay these vultures these exorbitant prices for RANGE AMMO, not even...
A certain someone here has a 35 newton that with modern powders would be near identical ballisticaly. a fellow in Alaska did a 358-375 Ruger a few years ago that ended up called the 358 Nukalpiaq. If I remember it was getting the 250's in the 3000-3100 range. 35 nosler would be the bee's knees!!
I have used the Hornady 154 in both a 7x57 and 7WSM with great success, it was THE whitetail bullet in both rifles(a sporterized 96 mauser and a M70 Shadow i reworked into a featherweight synthetic)
Box Store plain 700(walmart K mart etc). No jeweled bolt body or checkered handle knob uncheckered birch stock. My dad had one in 308 he bought at wally world for $259. He stripped the finish off the stock, wiped it down with muriatic acid and then used a blow torch to bring out the grain. after...
I think this one is splitting hairs as they say. As stated both are great cartridges, both can do double duty for varmints and medium game. On the light end at 85gr both can get to 3500 or better and with the 100 both can get to 3300, the 25-06 has the edge in BC with that weight. just my...
In 308 and 30-06 I used 150 BT for years on whitetails with great success but when i jumped up to the 300 WSM I went to a bonded bullet. my go to is the 165 AB on top of a full case of W760. Speed at impact was substantially different and I felt more confident in the AB at 3200 than the BT...
I have a nasty hankering for a big 35. I sure wish nosler would make a 35 to go with my 26. That said I have been looking at the Whelan or a 358 Norma but to be honest if I could find a decent rifle in 350 Remington I would be very happy. I've even thought about the 35 Sambar(358 WSM) since 325...
Dad had many rifles I wish were still around. He would let them go for one thing or another. One of them was a 788 in .308 made in 1969. that was an incredibly accurate rifle. Many a song dog and white tail fell to that rifle. I always look for them at the gun shows and I recently found a nice...
The good Revered Caldwell took a load of tigers in China with a .22 Savage Hi-power but I'm with you Guy, in the words of Elmer Keith "Bring Enough Gun"!
One morning deer hunting I was using doe and fawn bleats. Within minutes I had song dogs coming in, 3 from different directions. One I shot in the creek bottom below me at about 120 yrds, the second fled but stopped and looked over his shoulder at about 60 yrds, big mistake. I lost sight of the...
Its a shame they stopped making that model. I have a friend that has the the 336XLR in 30-30 and it turns in some impressive accuracy and surprising velocities with the leverevolution 140gr monoflex. His rifle is moa or a little better and runs about 40-50 fps higher than listed velocities with...
My guess is taking out a variable in the equation. All things equal SHOULD produce like results. Cases, bullets, primers, powder, weighing the same, loaded the same way to same exact tolerances.
All,
Can someone run a QL for the 160 Woodleigh Welcore for the 26 Nosler. I'm wanting to try these and unfortunately no data exists. I have LRT, RL33, and US869 on hand. Thanks in advance.
My latest grendel loads im trying are with the 120gr E Tip and 127gr LRX with a healthy dose of TAC. I also picked up a box of standard 120gr BTs to give a go with as well.
