Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

It's not the rifle! Just got back from the range, tried 25.5 and 26 grains of varget and got about a 3-4"group! Tried varget with my 60 grain Sierra's two seperate 5 shot groups that were both under an inch with three shots within each 5 shot group all touching! I think I will put these bullets...

Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

I expect some minor differences between sources, but not that much of a difference! I guess I will have to slowly work up starting lower than I had planned to. I suspect it may simply be a case of my rifle just not liking this bullet no matter what powder is used!

Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

Was just about to seat the bullets on 26.5 grains of varget which is half a grain under max according to the IMR site. Decided to check the Nosler data and they are listing 24.5 for a max charge of varget!! That's quite a difference! What's going on here?

Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

I can get IMR 4198 and AA2230, both of which are faster with the 4198 being the fastest. Checking the numbers on the 4198 it doesn't produce much for velocity with the 60 grain bullet though, so it would seem to be pointless in a way, to lose a couple hundred feet per second with a bullet that...

Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

Pretty sure it is a 9 twist as it will shoot the hornady 68 grain BTHP well. I don't have a chronograph, I haven't played with the seating depth too much. Does anyone have experience with this bullet? I don't want to waste powder or the bullets with components being so scarce right now!

Can't get the 60 grain partition to shoot

I bought a Ruger Hawkeye Predator in 223 a month ago. I had a model 77 mark II prior to that and had a load worked out using the 60 grain partition that shot well. 26 grains of H4895 and a win primer. Tried this load in my new rifle and it shoots terrible, like 4-5" groups at 100! So I switched...

    QL data anyone? .243WSSM

I have been looking for a reason to try R17 in my m 70, but imr 4350 and win 760 work so well I haven't bothered yet! I would like to know how the 17 works for you though?

Accuracy data using Reloader 17 in Short Magnum cases?

I have had good luck with it in my 270 wsm. For me, in my rifle, it will shoot an inch at 100 no problem, but doesn't seem to shoot any tighter. I prefer win 780 with a 140 grain bullet.

Coyote, good excuse for a walk

Nice looking country! We were having a fairly snow free winter, but that all changed today! 40cm down and still snowing! This pretty much kills getting into the woods without a ski-doo!

    Anyone seen a Browning A Bolt 3

I thought the x bolt was the new top of the line and the a bolt was demoted to entry level! The x has a lot more features than the A and is more expensive! The a bolt 3 would be in the middle.

    best 60gr 223 bullet

I have had good luck with the 60 grain v max, partition and sierra hp in a 1-12 twist ruger. All were fired using win primers and 25.5 or 26 grains of H4895.

    Your go to powders.

    223-aa2230 and H4895, CFE 223 243-h4350 243wssm-imr 4350, win 760 270wsm- win 780, R17 30/06- H or IMR 4350 hard to tell the difference

What is your favorite oddball round.

I would buy that ultimate shadow stainless in a second, but they don't ship to Canada! I just missed out on a blued ultimate shadow from the gun dealer in NB last year. Called on it and it sold an hour before I called! Haven't been able to find one since.

What is your favorite oddball round.

If I could find one I would add the 25 wssm to my collection as well. They are as scarce as hen's teeth around here though!

What is your favorite oddball round.

Yeah 760 works well, but I usually just use imr 4350. I am thinking about giving r 17 a try though. I guess that is what keeps me interested, still so many powders and bullets to try!

What is your favorite oddball round.

243 wssm, loaded with any bullet iy is a coyote's worst nightmare! Also makes a damn fine deer rifle with a 100 grain partition. Gonna try the 90 g accubond in it this year though, should be awesome!

    RL17

Works great in my 270 wsm and should be awesome in the 243 wssm, just haven't tried it yet.

    New Toy

Was it from the gun dealer in McAdam? He had a few for sale over the past year. There was an auction in Windsor a few months ago of mostly special production lever action winchesters, lots of real nice old guns that had never been fired, still kicking myself for not going!

    New Toy

I've always wanted one of those and had the opportunity to get one, but decided to pass. Now after seeing this one you just reminded me again! Thanks a lot! Just kidding! Real nice rifle though!
