    Before and After

I decided to keep the buttstock and forend as they were. Part of the reason is, there is a buckskin cheek rest that my Dad made and put on there years ago, I love the character that it adds. Will certainly post pics when it is in hands, 100% assembled.

    Remington 7600 270 Winchester

I am as dyed in the wool of a .30-06 guy as you can find. That said, the .270 is a darn good cartridge. I’m pretty late to the party where the .270 is concerned. My Uncle passed away six years ago and left me a Browning BBR in .270! It loves the old combo of a 130 grain Sierra Gameking on top...

    Before and After

Such nice rifles in such a wonderful cartridge. The .300 Savage is one I would like to see make a comeback but it seems pretty unlikely at this point. The .308 is just enough better (ballistically speaking) to draw most of that market these days.

    Before and After

Just loaded up 50 rounds in some Blue bag W-W brass, Varget and 150 grain Sierra SP. I think a 150 grain cup n core bullet is the bread and butter load for a .300 Savage!

    Before and After

First off, if anyone here is a purist, eschewing and denouncing any sort of “non-original” rifles, please avert your eyes, this post will cause you to combust. My grandfather’s Savage 99EG was given to me when I was about 10 years old by my father. I of course kept it in Dad’s gun cabinet and...

    New Vintage Woods Rifle

I killed my first few deer and one cow elk with that old Savage. It’s pretty well been out to pasture lately but getting it restored will get it back in the lineup. I can’t wait to show it to Dad. And here on the forum!!

    Horizon

A goodly portion of the west was open range for the longest time, even until recently. I think property lines were invented by yuppie Californians.

    Horizon

My wife and I really liked 1883 and 1923, looking anxiously forward for subsequent seasons. That said, Yellowstone is not a favorite. There was a lot of potential but sadly, too much Hollywood got in the way of an otherwise good show. I have lived and worked on many ranches for the majority of...

    NOSLER FACTORY BLEMS

Any structural variance would be purely coincidental as blems are removed from packaging as firsts via visual inspection. If there was any structural defect in a given production lot, the firsts would have the same defect as its impossible to see visually. Blems, by definition are a visual...

    Trying something new!

Hey good luck mister! I have killed one Whitetail right here in Oregon and continue to see more and more of them each year. Those in Alberta are way bigger than any Whitetail we have in the PNW! Enjoy your hunt! Take lots of pictures!

    Single Six .22 LR/.22 WMR

That must be the Bermuda triangle for losing handguns. Last summer a friend lost his .357 Blackhawk up around Seneca while riding his ATV. He also told me to watch out for it. He found it a couple days later after back tracking. Another friend lost an S&W .380 out of his bino harness while...

    Savage 30-30

I have a 1902 vintage Winchester 1894 and my father has a 1903 vintage Savage 1899 both in .25-35. Varget has shot the very best in both rifles although we are running more around 2100 fps rather than top velocities. We are loading 24 grains of Varget under the Hornady 117 grain Roundnose...

    Another .308

The first centerfire rifle I bought out of highschool is my Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless .30-06! It is my absolute favorite rifle. It didn’t take long for us to become a winning team, and for her to be christened “Old Reliable.” I own lots of others that I use, and dote on as well but...
