As I plan some upcoming hunts over the next few years, I've scratched WY off the list entirely. It's a shame, too, because I really like a lot of what Wyoming has to offer. But, it's also really hard in a number of other states for elk, deer, and bear - speaking as a non-resident, that is.
The only reason I could think to use the 85 is if for whatever reason, the 100 won't group in your rifle. Then, just be a bit more choosey about your shots.
I don't have anything I am planning on buying. That said, my eyes (and likely my wallet) will be open for one or more of the following, if I can find the right price:
454 Casull lever gun
45-70 lever gun (maybe)
30-30, but it would have to be an older Winchester 94, it's the only one I really...
Not trying to be rude, but if you want to hunt with that rifle/ scope combo, why not work at getting closer? Then you don't have to worry about where to hold.
Yes. I assume that companies will try and cross-level their finances by upping rates nation-wide to cover payouts in Cali. I also fully expect that they will run to DC and demand a bailout after explaining that they actually don't have the money to cover all the claims. And I don't doubt they...
Okay, all, once again, thank you for your suggestion and support, but I have some more specific questions -
I've started doing the initial planning, and if I could get some folks with local knowledge, I'd appreciate it. There will likely be 3 of us on this hunt, one of whom is 100% T&P from...
About... 8fps? ;)
Seriously, though, I'd be interested to see what you're getting for velocity. Is this a hunting load, or strictly target? I know nothing of it.
I do intend to try other ammo with it, but in my fantasy world, I'd like to have a load that I can carry in both my 44 mag revolver and my rifle. So, I do one hand load up, and carry it in both the rifle and the revolver at the same time. That way, I don't worry about what spare ammo goes with...
Read this post while sitting at the dining room table with cookies in the oven. I'm looking out the back yard thinking that I haven't filled a tag this year, but today that doesn't matter.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas.
Can only add that I've come in both slower and faster than book velocities. If I think there is something off, the first thing I do is stop, then I check additional loading resources to see what they say about my loads, or similar loads. I've seen some big differences between different load...
Okay, I've found an issue with this particular rifle; It does not want to cycle certain ammunition. I'm sure that doesn't come as a surprise to anyone, but perhaps someone could give some insights I'm missing. With factory Federal AE 240 SJHP, it simply does not want to load the round from the...
Well, now that I have had the opportunity to read the article, I reiterate my original points. If those brands continue to be manufactured in the US, I am considerably less concerned with who owns the company. I am very much interested in the US maintaining both manufacturing capability - of...
While I am interested in who owns it, I am more concerned about where it is made and what it costs. Will my cost go up, or down? Will Federal ammo and components be made here, or overseas with a Federal logo stamped on the box?
Nothing wrong with modest recoil. After shooting the wife's 243, I have to confess I was thinking about purloining it for my own purposes. It's light, light recoiling, accurate, and perfectly good on anything I'd hunt with it locally (and even a few things I'd go on the road for). Don't get...
