Jamila,
I live a boring life in the city so the only thing we have coming into our back yard is a few squirrels and rabbits. There is also a big grey house cat that sometimes walks the fence much to the chagrin of the dog!
Now, there are coyotes near by but no hunting in the city. It's...
Hunter,
"but the flora and fauna to keep me entertained for hours without a TV or cell phone making a bunch of noise..."
That is a great point, about actually allowing your surroundings to entertain you. There are those who can't do that. The friend who I refer for this thread has to be...
Pretty good for me this year.
The usual bow hunting NE Oklahoma, just a 1 hour 45 minute drive from where I live in McKinney Texas.
One buck and doe per license and I can buy 3 if I choose. Season starts october 1st until mid January. I can and do hunt every weekend I am not hunting somewhere...
Jack is probably standing over your shoulder whenever you shoot it too.
Jack on shoulder better than tico behind you.
Folks are going to wonder about that statement.
Thanks Doc,
TD and I don't really know one another so I'm hoping he is not about 6'6 and a lean 275 lbs with cauliflower ear, bent nose and a mean disposition....................... it that is the case then I'm about to do my maxwell smart imitation.......................

No way, the metal cartridge was not invented until the mid 1800's....................
Hope you have a sense of humor ..................... :>)
That old model 99 in 300 savage doing what it does best. My son's first buck.
Not the same grade of wood that Jmm has on his but, a nice chunk of lumber nonetheless
That same rifle scoped and slinged
The rifle with the most field time by me, a Mannlicher Schoenauer in .270
I'm blessed and have use of a fair number of rifles and I endeavor to get them all in the game. That said a certain 1952 model Mannlicher Schoenauer chambered in 270 has the most time with me. This was my Dad's rifle and I am not sure how many animals fell when wielded by him. My brother and...
Tom,
You know what I'm about to say before I say it.......................... never stopped me before:>)
If there is any doubt in your mind why not just try the 150 grain PT's. It won't take you long to get them shooting well. Even 1.5" at 100 is more than good enough for an elk. With a PT...
I thought I had good form until a shot a really big recoiler. Funny how those kinds of rifles will bring all kinds of bad habits/flaws to the surface! :>)
Some excellent responses and Cheyene, you know me well, not offended in the least. I always enjoy your perspective on these things. We all approach hunting from a different angle.
The friend I am speaking about is a close one and he means well. He's older than I and tries to impart some of...
Just interested in what motivates some of you folks.
I've a friend who has offered his advice on my going elk hunting again. His take was I should move on and tackle other game instead of my upcoming elk hunt this Fall. Mostly because I have one decent elk. Not a record book bull but...
This is an interesting thread. Up till now I never gave Wisconsin much thought. Also glad to see that there are some honorable & respectable hunters from that area. Who knew???????
