    Free Floating 700 Mtn

Well, it turned out amazing. I was really suprised at how well it turned out. The hardest part was cleaning the clay out of the action and figuring out how bolt stop spring went so I could put the trigger back on. I know, I know it is worthless without pics. I took pics I just have to have...

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

Well, I took the leep of faith this afternoon! I spent all week prepping the stock, action, etc with clay release agent probably a good seven or eight hours worth of prep work. The bedding part took about 15 minutes, now I just wait to see my stunning succes or miserable failure?? I took...

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

My stock is the brown laminate so I was thinking the pillar bedding may not be needed for the laminate I can crank the screws down pretty good and you can't squeeze the stock. I assume you mean that wood needs to be removed from both sides of recoil lug and tape only on muzzle side? I guess...

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

I decided to go ahead and bed the rifle while I was at it. Only questions I have after reading the instructions is they say to remove stock material at all the bedding surfaces to allow the compound to be thicker, I haven't read about anyone doing that is that necessary. Has anyone done there...

    Let's Take A Breath!!!!

I noticed in my nosler book the 300 wsm are tested with 26" barrels which I don't think you can even buy on a factory rifle and 300 win listed with 24" which is also fairly uncommon. Coincedence?

What if I'd of stuck to 30-06?

Exactly my point; the difference between a hunter and a shooter! My other point is a 30-06 can be affective at long ranges as well as long as you have done your part with wind and hold over and know your distances. People always say as long as you don't want to shoot over 300 the 30-06 is...

What if I'd of stuck to 30-06?

I have a sako 85 greywolf in 30-06. It is a wonderful rifle but I keep looking at my nosler book figures at the 300 win, 300 wsm, 270 win, 270 wsm, fill in the cartridge name here. The one thing I can't convince myself of is that any of these cartridges will do something my 30-06 cannot. Yes...

    308 Norma

Does anyone have any experience having a 30-06 rechambered to a 308 Norma Mag. Any good experiences with the 308 Norma and how it compares to 300 win or 300 H&H??

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

I will check but a dollar bill should fit through easily. What I meant about the trigger inlet is I didn't know if I should remove some of the inlet on the back side to be sure the recoil of the gun causes the action/barrel to exert the force on the recoil lug recess and not at the trigger. My...

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

I have a remington 700 LSS mtn I have decided to remove the pressure point. I used the old deep well socket and sand paper and it came out really slick. The question is how much clearance is adequate? I took a regular sheet of paper and folded once or two thicknesses passes easily around the...

    .260 range time

I had terrific luck with 4831sc and the 130 accubond at 2.80 with my 700 Mtn in .260. I totally agree very difficult to find the magic load.

    Lookin' for a .260

I too have one of the M700 Mtn Rifles in .260 with a 22" barrel. I have reloading for it for awhile but it was real particular. On the good side it shot everything at 1.25" no matter reloads, factory, everything but nothing would do better. Finally I found a load for the 130 Accubond and it...

    If the un-thinkable happens

I know down here in Ft. Worth the Cabelas is stacked with lines every day selling guns no matter what time a day I go in there. The gun shows have also been pretty crazy the last few months. To quote Yogi Bera "no one goes there anymore because they are too crowded". I talked to a couple of...

    30-06 Help

I am using the hex style and it usually measures within 3 to 4 thousandths. I guess I was under the impression you use a comparator to get exact measurements. Because I can get within that range without a comparator, so then why would you use one? Maybe just for lead tip bullets when the tips...

    30-06 Help

Before I reloaded some more ammo to double check. I went through everything again checking seating depth etc. This time not using the comparator because either I am not using it correctly or it seems to give some erratic measurements. Does this seem common or is there something wrong with the...
