My smith charges $150 to thread/chamber/crown/ with a turn around time of 1, 2 days at max. With the price of a Bartlein/BRUX/Krieger, it runs around $600. Add $75 if you need the muzzle threaded for a brake/suppressor.
The SST is a pretty good bullet for as cheap as they are. They typically hold up quite well in my testing.
I'll probably go to the 7mm 154g SST in the wife's Kimber 7/08 after the 150g NBTs are gone.
I always thought some speed helped, causing massive hydrastic shock. I try to keep my hunting loads around that 3K+ fps area. Just seems to kill better and faster than the slower rounds.
I typically aim for high shoulders on big game so they drop on the spot. I don't like tracking things...
Not often you hear of guys having issues with a 25/06. I've had several over the years and they were always very accurate and easy to tune with a wide range of cases, primers, bullets, and powder.
Since the rifle is capable of shooting under MOA with factory ammo, this leads me to think it...
I've had the Garmin almost a year now, but have only used it the last couple months. It's worked flawless on everything from my 22 cal springer airgun at 750fps, to standard velocity 22 LRs at 1000-1100fps, 22 and 9mm pistols, and a good variety of centerfire rifles. It hasn't dropped 1 shot for...
I really like my 7-300 Win Mag shooting 180g ELDMs at a mild 3000fps with 72.5g H1000. Its a hammer and super accurate out to 1200.
Good luck on the big bull Jake. I might have to tag along and help spot and pack out your 400" bull!
Android Galaxy here. Won't work for me either when you click on attach files...But it does work if you click on the little picture box, next to the paper clip looking thing.
I've got a little bit of everything these days. Burris, Nikon, Vortex, Leupold, Nightforce, S&B. They all work for their intended purposes. I use to be strictly a Leupold guy, but over the years my eyes just haven't agreed with them.
I made the transition to shoot Hodgdon in everything years ago. Have a good amount of Benchmark, H4350, H4831, H1000, and H110. Pretty much covers everything a guy could want or need right there.
I did go to VV N540 for my 223 with 75-80s only because H4895/Varget was impossible to find for...
I shoot SK standard, Rifle Match, long range, or CCI SV through a customized CZ457 w/Bartlein. They all average 1/2" at 50 and 1" at 100 for 5 shots. After 100 yards the clear winner is the long range and that's what I use for our local PRS matches. It'll make around 75% hits on a 20" gong at...
Thanks guys. Im fairly happy with it for now. The rifle was mainly built as a 1K trainer on steel. Saves barrel life and components on the 6 Creed and 7-300 Win Mag. But it will also see the occasional local PRS/MOA matches and I'll probably take it out some this winter and see how the 75g ELDMs...
Made it to the range this morning with the R700 223 Wylde, 28" Bartlein HV 8 twist. Loaded up 19 more rounds with the 80.5 Berger/24.5g N540 and did a 10 shot group at 100 and a 9 shot group at 300. By the time I got to 300, the last 4 or 5 shots the wind had picked up a bit and so did the...
I've got 100 virgin Lapua 300 Win Mag brass. I'd like to get $190 shipped.
I bought them to use in my 7-300, but they won't work without neck turning, and that's not something I'm looking to do or invest in right now.
1 case has been sized down to 7mm for measurements. After taking notes and...
Didn't draw anything, so I'll be doing general fall black bear and possibly a predation cow tag. Will be using the R700 7-300 Win mag with 180g ELDMs at 3000fps. 28" Bartlein w/4 port brake, A5 McMillan, and a NF NXS 5-22x.
How anyone gets a 125 yard shot on a president these days is beyond mind boggling. Then you have cops running around like ding dongs looking for the shooter on the ground, when the bystanders were clearly pointing and yelling on the roof...To me, it all sounds like everyone did nothing so it...
Looking good right out the gate. Shooting an accurate 22 is way more fun than it ought to be. It's not exactly cheap per se, but then again nothing really is these days is it? Still cheaper than centerfire, and every bit as fun! No time spent handloading, or replacing outrageous component...
