That combo is in no man's land.
In my humble .02 cents of good ol' cash
The bearing surface of the 60gr partition in the 22-250 really needs a faster burning powder than R16...
Might I ask..
Why are you set on R16 for that? There are many other powders much, much, much,MUCH better suited for...
Depends on the what for me...
5.56 rounds I try to keep 1k on the ready
7.62x51 likewise
Hunting items...Depends on the components I have left, the availability to replace, etc.
Example..
30 cal Ballistic Silvertip 180 gr...
They've been very scarce..as in none.
So what I have remaining is...
I've seen those and may order those....
I have hornady special seater for the ATips ...and H's seater die...
But we will see where all this goes.
I have approximately 20 rounds out of this thing so far and at least another 20-30 factory that needs shot for the cases.
The free bore data really...
For some of the people out there who might not know...
perhaps if you have any remaining you or anyone else for that matter could post some pictures of your bulge issue, and maybe a before and after with your die set.
Great job on the die making BTW!
I am trying to learn as much as I can about this cartridge especially with the frigid temps at present. Shooting is miserable right now so it's a lot of skull sessions and loading things for inventory.
That said I am not using a bushing die, nor necking up or down my brass.
I've only loaded a...
So...
To the wby shooters on this thread....
Are you trying to hit the free bore window area and play around with that a few thosabdths out or in...
I'm only asking this because Roy had a reason for his free bore to hit the speeds he was seeking thus...
Has anyone found the impact of less to...
all the primer pricing complaints makes me shake my head though...
perhaps I'm from a different mold...I don't hand load for cost savings. I simply do it making my own ammo. I can do it better for my application than any factory can.
BUT...
I will play along with the cost theme a sec...
to...
Won't happen. Not as a rule.
Sure you will come across a sale here or there or promotion from a mail order house now and then but you won't see a drop in pricing as a rule.
The overhead of raw materials, wages, transportation, etc simply make that impossible.
Supply and demand will...
If what you're suggesting is going on I would think the OP would definitely notice a different feel upon chambering loaded rounds
You didn't deburr thr O.D.? A lot of those tools do both
Seems to be some mixed reviews on them.
#1 most state they require more effort to seat.
#2 ive read several no fire reviews of this primer.
#3....sone say no issues
#4...That's all I got
I have a plethora I am wanting to try...
That said the charts above are most helpful!
So far I have loaded 225 gr eldm bullets at the published coal
and I have shot factory rounds just to obtain brass...
That said...
as a side note the WBY 165 grain Ballistic tip ammo was making one ragged...
i really appreciate that....and what I was looking for...
That is utterly incredible..the .460 and the 378 @ over 3/4 of an inch of free bore.
I know those are the two biggest baddest regularly made sporter type rifles in lieu of any daisy chain cartridge ladder.
3/4 of an inch.
W O W
I liked your post even if waking up a 5 year old thread. 🤣🤣🤣
The USA made pre64 model 70 is the best bolt action rifle ever.
I might have the last one over made in the FN plant. Sadly they're all made in Portugal at present.
Might be a fine weapon but COO is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to me this...
I had asked this before to some of the 30-378 shooters and if it was answered...apologies...if I didn't see it...
I'm ready to start working on some precision loads. I've got brass accumulated shooting factory and just buying new brass...
THE QUESTION...
With WBY and the free bore they do...
I load a lot of 5.56/223
A lot!
And I use the Hornady spray....
Couple things of note...
223/5.56
It's everywhere. You can thank the AR craze but the fact remains that caliber of ammo is everywhere and lots of it.
Quality control can take a hit when that happens.
Not saying that's your...
