Doing an experiment for an old friend/colleague of mine in the industry...
You might read about it at some point.
Anyways I'd like some opinion on rimfire ammunition present day.
I know there are some sku's no longer available that shot well...(Federal)
But...
I want some opinions on...
STOP RIGHT THERE!
Something is wrong.
First thing to check.
Scope and it's mounts.
Mounts don't go bad. They CAN loosen....but I doubt this is the problem.
Scopes on the other hand...can have a reticle walking around inside the tube.
They lose their effective adhesive properties and then...
Both.
Shooters are going to shoot.
Reloaders (most) will jump 5 minutes ago if they can save a buck. Even if a perception of savings.
Shotshell loaders are 10x worse
(cheap) than metallic loaders.
100 miles to save a dollar on a bag of wads.
The very same person will complain a round...
I was in Waco a few years back. Went to see the F1 race in Austin and then.....
My wife wanted to go to Magnolia.
Didn't get to see the David Koresh water tower we all remember from the news every evening circa early 90's ....
but it was a nice town what we could see
Maybe its just me but I've found QL velocities to be on the slower side.
Not what I'm wishing for but rather what I've seen on chronograph vs. QL listing.
I've never really asked this question but am I the black sheep here in seeing higher velocities than what QL shows? I'm talking across the...
I say with all my spirit...
I feel bad for you Washington residents.
This is absurd. Truly absurd!!!!!!!

For metallic loading?
No
For shotshell loading?
No...
BUT......
I've thought about it for shotshell loading but ultimately neglect, laziness and courage(?) won out.
Any one of the three or a little bit of all prevailed 🤷
Maybe but I have a sneaking suspicion that you are going to be thinking about this and it's going to get to you until you figure out a combo that you are confident it will be safe for the weapon.
Perhaps I am wrong but I find some of our thinking being similar and I know it would eat at me...
Gotcha...
I can certainly appreciate that.
Velocity numbers get us all at some point.
Sucks us right in alright.
I was hoping you didn't say about the weather immunity.
That drives me crazy. Our industry is the trendiest when it comes to new product or thinking.
A reputable author, good...
I'm still trying to find soneone with a 460 Weatherby and no brake for me to shoot.
I'm not recoil shy....
and........
........
I just gotta know!!!!!!!
The subject of Nosler brass seems to garner mixed reviews as of late.
check out this thread...

In my recent experience I received brass that ranged .020 in OAL
Thats not good but mostly annoying in a...
IMR4350 but a very close second is 4831
Matter of fact I could interchange them with little to negligible difference.
I always say if the sky fell and I could only have two powders they'd be W760 and IMR 4350 or IMR4831
What mfg is that weapon?
My old man had a 458 made by Kleinguenther.
He loved those things. He had a dozen or so chambered in many different cartridges.
Good shooting brotha.
I agree one million percent about the dies.
RCBS isn't a bad company but dollar for dollar Hornady dies are better. That micrometer adjustment option is nice. I own two of the micrometer adjusters as most times I 'm loading more than one cartridge on a turret press.
My...
