We actually discovered that "with those bullets" (the 180 XBT ) we could use this load in several 300WMs. It was like the 58gr/4350/165 , 30-06 load! But that has been awhile and bullets/powder Lots change. One thing to remember though...an accurate "any bullet" 300 Win Mag is just an...
I used 73gr/R23/175 LRX for around 3080. I later found RS Magnum at 87gr gave me about a 100fps faster/better accuracy. I know it's not R25, but I thought it may give you a parameter? Good luck chief!
I'm looking for some high pressure loads around 64K for both the 180 and 200gr in the 30-06. Rifle has 24" barrel and is using Winchester brass. I'm interested in VV N560 as one of the powders. I have R17, H4831, H4350, 7828, Magnum, Big Game, Hunter,N165, both 4831s. Let me know what you got...
I took a 340 Wby to Africa back in '98. I was using the older Barnes 210 XBT over 82gr H4350 for 3200fps. Wicked!
I want to add it was a Custom 5.5-6# Match Grade Arms with the loudest, but super effective brake. It was so "effective" it shook the guts out of two name brand scopes, and I had to...
Oooooh! I just had the TT put in and it feels suhWeet at 1.5# right now. I love how I can quickly, in the field crank it up to 3# when my old fingers get cold, lol. Way, way better feel than that Kimber trigger, and they ain't half bad!
I had just spoken with my Smith. Douglas sent off the barrel to the company in WY to have it fluted. They will send on over to him when done. Getting close! In meantime, I have been wringing out the Nosler 150 partition in my .270 Kimber 84L Classic. Found a great load of 58.5gr N560 going...
I've loaded for others 300 WSM and in last few years owned a few Kimbers in them. When it was first coming out (late 90's?) I had a Remington blued/synthetic, heavy barrel .308 "Varmint" rifle converted. It even used an in-line magazine, but you had to drop the magazine plate and load it upside...
If you got a recipe for a load, then that particular rifle will probably shoot them well. I have been shooting them since 1989. I agree with "hit or miss". I also agree they would copper foul alot of bores. My 35 Whelen AI shot them well and the 250x, and 200x were both killers, but they both...
Douglas' closest #3 in .338 cal was the "Winchester 70 Sporter" profile. Smith can make it work he said. I also told him to have it "fluted"to save maximum weight. About 3 weeks should be here. I'm keeping busy working up loads in my .270 Kimber. I tentatively have the Speer 150 in Nosler cases...
Nice "Find". I shot/killed Game with that 120 NBT from a 6.5x284 and its a fine one! I've owned a couple 6.5 CMs, .260s and some smaller 6.5 wildcats. Fine killers and very popular out here in Browning Country, the Hells Canyon rifles too! I've only owned "older" Brownings such as the BLR and a...
After bore scoping that "new" 338/06 UL barrel I bought off Ebay, it had been shot before, had some rust inside. I told my Smith to just order me a Douglas #3 SS in .338 , ream it to 338 RPM and use my existing brake. By jingo, "make do won't do", ha Now I know for sure I can figure on a good...
I've seen plenty of paw prints of Mountain Lions where I have hunted a bit further South, here in Utah. But never have seen one. There have been a few times when a young one comes into the suburbs here. Freaks the locals out. Animal Control catches them. Makes the news every time. Big cats...
Great story! I've hunted right out of Colbran myself. I have also visited the Rocky Mountain Park...very rough country. We visited Estes Park several times. Coming back from dinner one night, my car headlights saw a "humungous" Black Bear, his coat was thick, shiny and his head was very, very...
Wow! I put the 25-06 on another forum's Classifieds last night, another member spoke for it a few minutes later! "I'm blessed in the field and I'm blessed in the City"! lol
