    Buy, Sell or Hold?

While it may have had some issues to start with, I think Ruger did a good job for you to rectify those issue; I would shoot it and see what you think before you kick it down the road. It could prove to be a gem you'll want to keep!

    Dinosaurs and sheep

There are those animals that just don't follow the script and can prove to be a humbling experience! Sounds like your ostrich proved to be one of these. At least you scratched that one of the list. Caribou are not known to be tough to kill, and yet my first bull at 100 yards soaked up 5 lethal...

Which cartridge do you like so much, you have multiple firearms for it?

A BLR in 257 Roberts is on my Bucket List! There was one listed for sale a little while ago here in Canada, but they had improved it...and I would prefer an original.

So Glad That I Tried Different Rifle Cartridges & Loads!

I have always enjoyed playing with various cartridges in order to learn more about this past time, gain real world experience with each, for accuracy and on-game performance, and learning more about what each rifle prefers in terms of bullets, powder, primers, brass, and seating length. Just...

    Shot the Tikka Swede

Nice group and good velocity! Makes one wonder why we need a 6.5 PRC when one can get 2900+ fps out of the Swede with 140 gr class bullets in a modern action, with approx. 10% less powder. 🤔 But that wouldn't sell new rifles with faster twists and ammo with higher BC bullets! ;)

    Keith on Partitions

I just bought 4 boxes of 115 gr Partitions for the 257 Roberts to try in case I can't fine tune a load I am happy with for the 115 gr BT, due to the short magazine box of the Sako 591 action.

20 cartridges to rule them all

I am going to limit my list to rifle and shotgun as we cannot use handguns here north of the border... 17 HMR - safer as the frangible bullets don't result in ricochets like the 22 does, and I would choose over the 22 Mag for trapping and smaller varmints 22LR - no firearms battery is complete...

    264 WM

Those Super Grade's are nice rifles...too bad they don't make them left handed...hope you enjoy yours! The 130 gr AB would make a dandy deer/antelope/sheep load! Should be able to reach out and touch them with that flat shooting combo! Nosler' Guide shows 63.0 to 67.0 gr of Retumbo with the 130...

    Gaps in your caliber battery

There is no crime on having a gap, or gaps, in your firearms battery. We all have varied tastes and interests, and can appreciate that we don’t all have to agree on which calibers we choose to own and shoot. For me, while I have owned a 243, it didn’t do much for me at the time as moose was the...

    One more yard buck.

Let her know that your eyes are trained for finding fish and game for the table...comes from your years of guiding! Not for the work that keeps you away from hunting and fishing! ;)

    Well I did it...

May you enjoy many hours handling and admiring that beautiful rifle! Whether it be at home in an easy chair with a favourite beverage, around a campfire with friends and family, or on a hunt/in a stand where you can spend quality time with a handsome firearm that is pure joy to own. (I know I...

Which Ammo For African Plains Game ???

Are they both the same bullet weight? The gemsbok, wildebeest and zebra are all tough critters known for their tenacity to life and reputation of being able to take a solid hit and keep on going...I would hedge towards the bullet with the higher weight and sectional density for mass, momentum...

    Kudu bull and the ABLR

Nice momento of your kudu hunt! Always interesting to see the recovered bullet. How it expanded, and what weight ot retained. 72% weight retention on a 700 lb animal is pretty good performance. Was it under the hide on the offside?

    Cigarettes for Bushbucks 2025

Very nice ram! Looks heavy! Congrats again! Glad to see you are having an excellent adventure and creating many new memories! Kudu had long been my top bucket list animal for Africa, but in the months leading up to our trip, the more I read and watched video on hunting bushbuck, the more it...
