For sharp recoil, try a 700 gr bullet in a 510 Wells (460 Wby necked up) out of a Ruger No.3 rifle!
That lever really smacks the middle finger! Even padded and gloved, it just hurts!
I have reload data from QuickLoad for the 115 gr Ballistic Tip with H and IMR-4831, using F210M primers and Winchester cases, w/ max pressures of 65K psi in a 22" barrel at:
H-4831: max of 48.2 gr for 3015 fps
IMR-4831: max of 45.4 gr for 3024 fps
I have yet to try them. But I will be loading...
Since I have a VX-3 2.5-8x35 B&C on my LH Steyr Mannlicher Model M FS SE in 6.5x55, that is a great choice as recommended above!
And I have a Kahles Helia 3-9x42 TDS on my Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall in 6.5x55, so another great choice of power range as recommended above too!
Look forward to...
Guy,
I have had this rifle for 29 years now. It has taken a few moose, several black bear and my first woodland caribou over those years, at ranges of 5 to 225 yards.
I have used the Winchester factory 200 gr Power Point ammo for all of its hunting to date, and it will produce 1" groups...
Have also had great on-game performance with Partitions, from deer to bison, in cartridges ranging from 6.5 Swede tp 338 Win Mag.
Never had one let me down.
In your CZ, you should be able to go to 64-65K for pressure...but if you are starting to get sticky bolt lift, you may not get there in your rifle.
AccuBonds also tend to like more jump to the lands than what you are trying. You might want to start at 0.050" and to see if they will perform...
