Tried the VLD on deer with a 243 and ranges out to 450 good bullet placement but not great performance, many penciled on thru and had 2 long tracking jobs. Love the 95 bal tip for deer out of the 243 does an excellent job.
Different calibers no doubt different results due to FPS. I also know a...
Yes but it is listed under all other 140 grain bullets ,no separate testing to date on the 142 LR AB. Do not know how long the Sierra bullet is but the 142's are a really long bullet so bearing surface and pressure could be a tad higher so proceed with caution. Love the 142 in my creed and will...
I have a 6.5 Creedmoor they shoot great in my gun! Nosler doesn't have any specifics for this bullet under the 6.5 Creedmoor they have that bullet lumped in with the 140 offerings, so I would do the same with your 260. My Creedmoor loves them with H 4350 your case being a tad bigger I would try...
I am using Nosler brass trimmed to 1.910, Winchester large rifle primers, 142 grain Nosler LR AB, this was 40.5 grains H 4350 and sitting .040 off lands in my savage rifle.
Load everything with Redding type s dies and micrometer bullet seating die.
The 129's shoot well to, just need to decide...
Thank you very much for the info! If I could ask could someone run just h 4350 powder I would like a ball park of powder versus velocity and predicted pressures for this load and H 4350
Again many thanks for the help
I tried them in a .243 I found them to be very finicky to seating depth outside of that they shot alright, not as tight though as Nosler 95 bal tips. I think bullet design has a lot to do with it. Performance wise a great bullet.
Will show you how much drift you have at 60mph! LOL
I shot my biggest mule deer when the wind was blowing a consistent 50 mph, but the shot was 75 yards LOL
If I could ask for some help, would someone run a Nosler 6.5 mm 142 grain LR Accubond using Nosler brass and H-4350 powder and case OAL 2.855
24" barrel
Thank You.
Hornady bench rest model is a great digital scale works well and measures to 1/10 grain. I use it to weight bullets as well and use a bullet every so often to check it is still on.
Thanks my barrel is 24" but ok I can at least see that my load of 40.8 grains well within the range along with Hodgdon's numbers. Nosler is very low in the new Nosler 8 they list a max of less than 40 grains?
Never had pressure issues running 40.8 just seemed strange to me?
Thank you very...
Yes talked with a USA team F class shooter and he has given up on neck sizing all together a few years back and he says by shoulder bumping .002 your stretching is about as non existent as neck sizing plus you know they will all chamber.
I use Redding S series dies and since switching to them...
I have a 243 and have been using h 4350 for a period of years and it seems noslers manual is lower than Hodgons on this powder? So wanted to check what QL has for numbers.
Using H 4350, 95 Nolser bal tip, WLR primer and Honrady brass. OAL is 2.640
Thank you!
The very best I have found is Honrady case sizing wax this stuff is amazing and I have tried about them all! The Hornady case sizing wax not really a wax per say also has a polish material in it after you wipe the case they are shiny clean! A tin of this will last a long, long time! This stuff is...
Yes I see some neck stretching in the 6.5 but mostly at the datum line. Yes love the Nosler brass just more consistent in the 6.5 Creedmoor to me than Hornady.
With Nosler brass being shorter just means I trim less often on necks but FL resize to move that shoulder back after each load.
I...
Was wondering if anyone else measures with a Hornady head space tool with new brass and then fired to see case stretch? I am getting .006-.007 stretch with new brass and then fired it seems my chamber is short because many will not allow bolt to close up if. I try to neck size after one firing...
Not really hard to understand and Hornady tells us all what is going on, higher BC bullets retain Korea velocity at extended ranges keep the heat up on the tip, even a slight deformation at extended ranges will effect BC laws of physics tells us that is true. The entire concept behind polymer...
