    R-26

I use RL26 with my 300 Weatherby and 180 grain Bullets. I get 3225fps and that is as close to factory ammo velocity as I know of with a 24" barrel. Of course, accuracy is good because there is no need to brag about fast and crappy sized shot groups.

    6.5 Creedmore

RL-17 with a 129gn Hornady SST is a great combination in my 6.5 Creedmoor. It thumps a 20" gong at 1,000 yards and is a regular hunting rifle that happens to be smokin accurate.

McGowen vs. Krieger Vs. Lothar Walthar

I have a McGowen barrel on my 9.3x62mm Mauser. It's got paper match shooting accuracy for a medium bore rifle and I think that's perfect.

    Scope for Model 70 Featherweight?

Yup. Good scopes from Vortex. A buddy just put one on his S2 Vanguard 30-06 Springfield.

What fast .30 caliber for my new barrel?

I would go with a 300 Weatherby. Using RL-26 at book levels you can get within a few feet/second of Weatherby factory loads. I'm doing it with a 24" barreled Vanguard and accuracy is sub MOA@100 yards, but more importantly, one-shot kills at 300+ yards from a cold barrel.

    6.5 creedmoor bullit weight

What was the bullet weight of the factory ammo you used? My 6.5 Creedmoor loves the 129 Hornady SST over 43gn of RL-17, the 130 Swift Scirocco IIs over 46.5gn of Superformance, and the 140gn Hornady SST with 41.5gn of H-4350 or 44gn of Superformance. All of those loads are sub-1" shooters at 100...

best bullets for top velocity in the .300WM

I've brought down deer with one shot using the reliable 180gn Hornady Interlock boat tail from my 300 Wby. Going between 3060 and 3100fps, depending on the handload, and a 300 yard zero is a quick way to end the hunt with one well placed shot. Taking big deer at 335 and 535 yards was not problem...

    3,050 fps in a 6.5 Creedmore

I'm getting 3015fps at the muzzle with 46.5gn of Superformance under a 130gn Swift Scirocco II. The Swift manual shows 47.5gn as the max load. The load I'm using is sub-MOA @ 100 yards and sub Minute of Deer (twice) at 390 yards.

    H4831SC / RL 19 for 6.5 Creedmore

I've used 43gn of H-4831SC with the 140gn Hornady Match bullets. I think the average velocity was 2640fps but I'm not sure. I was looking for a 1,000 yard load with the 140 Match bullets. Superformance is too wishy washy with variances in velocity with that bullet.

    ...interesting take on powder sensitivity...

Loads developed in the late summer usually don't perform the same as in the coldest months, so checking the 100 or 400 yard scope settings for your long-range rifle is a great thing. Such a check can reveal if you've got a much different load at hunting season than you had during load tests. I...

    Keeping Barrels Cool

Make the barrel vertical with the action open, put it in the shade leaning against a tire or something so the barrel or stock won't get scratched, and let it cool while you walk to the target and check things. There is no need to pour or pump anything onto the exterior surface or through the...

    Temperature vs humidity

I don't think the humidity had anything to do with a sticky bolt. The case was either exposed to more than usual pressure or there is some crud in the chamber, maybe even on the cases. Air temperature will have more to do with exterior ballistics than the humidity, especially if the powder is...

Feedback - Long Range Hammer - 28 or 30 Nosler

I think a custom 270 and a 28 Nosler would be too close to the same to make a big difference. I see the 30 Nosler as the one to go with considering you can get heavy-for-caliber bullet, long range accuracy that has bullets at least 25 grains heavier than the 7mm family can offer. The sectional...

257 Weatherby and 25-06: Opinions wanted

I had a Enfield action 25-06 with a 26" barrel that made within 12 ft/ sec of my S2 257 Wby (24" barrel) with each firing a 120gn bullet. Max book loads in the 25-06 were with IMR-4831 and the Weatherby used H-1000. Best of all, both loads made 3-shot groups less than an inch wide. I didn't do...

210 gr Swift Scirocco 11 in 338 cal

Call Swift and ask if the 210gn Scirocco II's are in stock. Phone (785) 754-3959. If you want to try a website order: http://www.swiftbullets.com/products-s/ ... m#scirocco I've called then and had bullets sent straight from the factory in Kansas.

    .308 help

Great advice from Dr. Mike. If you can, get a box or two of factory ammo and have someone watch your shooting technique. There could be an inconsistency you're not aware of with how you set up, shoot, and follow through. Don't rule out going to a heavier bullet, such as one of the 165gn pills...

    Boat Tail Bullets

I had a 270 Win that grouped 130gn Hornady Interbonds high and left of where other bullet groups were from the same rifle. I tried different powders, different seating depth, but nothing could get those Interbonds close to the 130 flat bottomed Hornady Interlocks or the 140gn Interlock boat tail...

    9.3x62 MAUSER

I have a 1937 Czech Mauser that was in 8x57mm and now is a 9.3x62mm. It shoots 270gn Speer and 286gn Hornady bullets with the same point of impact using H-414, H-4350 and Varget loads. A Boyds laminate thumbhole stock and muzzle brake lessen the recoil, but even without the brake the recoil is...

    300 WBY load recipe

H-4831, H-1000, and RL-19 and the 180gn Accubond and Interlocks have made great loads with my 300 Roy. I would drop all notions of duplicating Weatherby's factory ammo velocity since that powder is blended and not available over the counter. Loads with Norma MRP shows some impressive speeds in...

    7mm Weatherby load recommendations, please

Thanks for the loads and info on how they worked. I know this is not the top-selling Weatherby cartridge. That doesn't matter to me. I am looking forward to a lot of load work ups and and lot of range time. I'm a bit tempted to get some 175 grain bullets but I don't think they'll work any...
