Just one, 7x57 Blaser, but I will need to sell my other guns to afford it.
I figure if you need more than one shot to kill an ungulate you shouldn't be shooting
Agreed, the 6.5x55 is a superb calibre,if it floats your boat, but has it's limitations, I too am a .30 cal man through and through, why risk a marginal calibre on something like a big animal in terms of a moose, in fact, in Sweden the minimum calibre to shoot a moose is the 6.5x55 so I dispute...
Firstly, that rifle was an awesome find, you are a lucky guy, do the lottery, now!
I am interested in IMR4350 loads for the .243 100 gr NP's if you have any experience?
I use RL19 40.4 gr and Speer 100gr BTSP but I have run out of that powder and head but have been given plenty of the NP's to...
It is, in my opinion, a bullet not suitable for hunting game, too much meat damage and they just don't hold together well, it's a SST with a different name
6.5 x 55 will do what she requires.
Tikka is a good entry level rifle and it will do what she requires, although the synthetic stock's have been known to flex and inaccuracy can occur.
.308 is a good all round calibre and she will handle it well.
But my choice would be the 6.5

In those conditions you describe it couldn't have been comfortable.
It would be ok shooting a deer or elk at 100 yards, but anything over 200 yards the spread would start to grow to such an...
When you get the money together I would rather get a second hand Beretta or Browning than a cheap new shotgun, my first over/under was a Lincoln, not great, next was a 2nd hand Browning Citori, it was 20 years old when I bought it, it never missed a heart beat (you just need to check for wear...
