Yes that is closer to my chrony readings, 85g went 2850 and 87g went 2940 fps. I like to run my MARKV's up to Wby's factory loaded pressures which I believe are around 63000 psi. My cases hold 99.5g of water.

Thank you DWH but I am a little confused, Nosler book shows 83g of RL 22 as max so I started with 83g of 26 which only chronyed at 2804 fps. So it looks like that is still way under pressure. What would the unadjusted quikload have projected? Thanks. By the way rifle is a MARKV with .378 freebore.

Like a lot of oldtimers my first rifle had a peep with the small aperature removed before I had enough money for a new rifle with a scope. If I recall in basic training we shot man sized targets out to 350 meters with our M14's with peep sights.

Nosler partitions have been around for what 60 years? I don't see these so called super bullets doing anything much better. From my experience a 338 partition kills with more authority than one from a smaller caliber if going similar velocity, the larger the frontal area with equal penetration...

Cleveland: If you can afford it go for it, life would be boring if we only bought what we needed. I like fast guns and fast cars that's why I bought a 6.5-300 WBY. and a Challenger Hellcat even though a guy in his 70's probably doesn't need 700 HP but I wanted it and it sure was fun.

Shooting the barrel out of a hunting rifle isn't going to happen if it is used just for hunting. I could not shoot the barrel out of my 6.5-300 if I lived another 50 years also they do make more barrels.

6.5-300 WBY., 140g acc at 3400fps, it is still going 2550fps at 500 yards and 1825 at 1000 yards and no problem finding brass.
