Truck driver, I have been on blood thinner ( warfarin ) for 10 years and have never had a bruise from any thing with a decent recoil pad. 338 Win., 340 Wby. for example so no problem there. Be extremely careful when using a knife and carry band aids as you will bleed a lot more than normal.
We have lots of tags and access in Oregon but drawing quality tag is the hard part and at my age I need an outfitter if it is rough country. So I don't mind paying out of state fees for the chance to draw really great tags. After joining Zero guide fee program my hunts are paid for if I draw...
Jamila, you must have ice water in your veins, my pacemaker would probably short circuit if I were in that situation. Please keep posting about your adventures.
Fotis, Noslers book shows 69g at 3433 fps and I was loading 70g in mine with no ejector marks or other pressure signs. Velocity was 3500fps same as factory loads in my barrel. Gun was markv big game master with hand lapped barrel.
I have an old broken 22 made by J. Stevens Arm and Tool company that says 22 short on it. Also I believe I shot at the Disney arcade in 1956 but maybe it was somewhere else as they were common.
April, I also feel old, back in the 50's I shot a lot of shorts and longs In my Mossberg 22 as they were cheaper than paying 50 cents a box for long rifles. Also I have a nylon 22.
Bench rest sub moa is great if you have time to get a solid 2 point rest in a hunting situation, but in 60 years of hunting most of my shots have been off one point wobbly rests or no rest. So I try to pull the trigger when the cross hair passes into the kill zone. Not sure if sub moa or 2" moa...
I have owned 3 mark V 257 wbys. since the 1970's, but I will cover the last one which was a Big game master with the hand lapped barrel. It was not a great shooter but would group under 1in. with the factory 115 BT. This load went 3500fps from my rifle not 3400fps as advertised. I duplicated...
The 200g BT is very popular for elk where I live and there is a lot killed here. They seem to make an elk very sick if accidently hit in the paunch and they don't go far. Plus they do a great job of breaking bone at any range.
