I took my largest muley to date in Arizona with my 6.5-300 Wby. and 140g Nosler accubond. Range was 488 yards and the bullet angled through from left side ribs and exited right front leg. The leg bone was shattered into many pieces and I seen blood and bone marrow spray out on exit. Very...
Preacher, the 200g Nosler BT is an excellant elk bullet, I run mine at 3080fps with WIN brass and F215 primer and RL17, I will be taking this load and 200acc load at same velocity on my early bull hunt in Arizona on Oct, 6.
Thanks guys, I just checked the portal and I drew my first choice 12b west late hunt. Been applying since 1985 for deer before they started points, drew with 19. Been luckier on elk, drew muzzle loader in 1995, archery in 2005 and finally early rifle this year.
Had a charge of $300 on my credit card so I guess I drew either 12b west late or 12a west late for mule deer, results should be posted any day, This means two long trips as my early Arizona bull tag starts Oct 6 and deer starts Nov 24.
Another way to transport meat is to bone it out and put the chunks in one gallon zip lock bags then just pack it in ice cubes. Also so tape the lid like C.Shutte said and it will be good for at least 3 days in a decent cooler.
Have you looked into the KUIU packs? I bought one after looking at and trying on one that my friend had. I don't carry a lot of weight at my age but the comfort is unreal compared to any thing I have owned. Carbon fiber adjustable for length frame and inter changeable bag sizes. I WENT WITH THE...
I would not buy a Red Ryder lever action as the lever is plastic and it broke after only a couple hundred shots, made in China. The only thing better about it than the ones I had in the 1950s is it feeds a lot more reliably.
I hear you Guy, UPS just delivered 250 bullets I really did not need. I have so many 270, 338 and 264 BT and partitions that I could never use up hunting if I was 20 years old much less 71.
Guy, I would do the rug and put it on a wall if you have room, we have a black bear on the den wall and it really looks nice that way, much better than on the floor. You could use the $4000 difference to do another hunt of some sort.
We have 5 acres in the country but our backyard borders forest land. At times we have 50 plus elk in the yard and a few blacktail deer, coyotes, raccoons and other varmints. There are bear and cougar although we have not seen any in the yard. In the 8 years since we built the house I have...
Guy, what height did you order? The lows are plenty high for a Leupold with a 40 mm objective, almost 1/4 inch clearance with the scope all the way back.
I have a pretty full plate so far, Oregon archery bull elk and rifle blacktail and Arizona early rifle bull elk and I should draw Arizona late Kaibab rifle deer as I have 19 points.
