the problem with screwing the die in is it will only go so far as it is a fixed size once it hits the shell holder. the only way to set the shoulder back further is to file the top of the shell holder off to set the case deeper into the die
if you are full length sizing to saami minimum spec's to the datum line for a 250-3000 it is the maximum for the datum line on a 22-250. Assumming your smith didn't chamber the gun to the no-go length of the 22-250 gauge which i don't think he would your shoulder on the 250-3000 is going to be...
some length's according to Forster
Caliber 22-250 Remington
Length GO 1.574”
Length NO GO 1.579”
Length FIELD 1.583”
250 Savage
Length GO 1.579”
Length NO GO 1.583”
Length FIELD 1.587”
as you can see they are not the same headspace gauges and i would be angry at my smith...
Going to add the standard warnings of this is just a prediction of quickload and not a pressure tested loads. Please use at yourown risk and work up carefully

the first thing i would do is get somebody else to shoot the rifle. Consistent 1/2" groups are about as easy to find as bigfoot. I know everybody on almost every forum i've been on shoots them all the time but when ever I goto the range i don't see it. Sometimes different people shoot different...
I grew up around guns and love them to this day but unfortunatly i never hunted much. Its not going to be a mistake a make with my daughters(hopefully they'll enjoy it). Congratulations on the deer and introducing somebody to hunting.
i agree it may be only 100 fps faster than tha manual but the lowest pressure powder i could find to give 3300 fps was biggame and with 3.5 grains less it would put you at max load +/- a couple of percent and 3196 fps but those extra 3.5 grs. put you at 74,000 psi. for 100 fps second i still...
just looking at quickload and you need almost 80,000 psi to get 3300 fps out of 115 gr. BT in a 25-06. Just make sure your not shooting next to an innocent bystander with that load
quickload shows a pressure of about 73,000 psi with the xfn barnes loaded to a length of 2.550" with aload of 52.0 gr. of h4198. The partion because it is much shorter is a 40,000 psi load. i don'yt think i'd be firing the xfn's loaded to that length with that load. Granted quickload isn't...
did you get some loaded for your 336c? y cartridge OAL looks to be about 2.217 to the lands. This makes my dead length bullet seater bottom out and i get get the bullets any deeper. I'm not shooting bench rest so i don't need the bullet on the lands. Any body else have any experience with this.
assuming you filled the case to 100% of AVAILABLE CAPACITY WITH THE BULLET SEATED TO NOT COMPRESS THE CHARGE, which quickload says should be about 62.5 grs. you should get about 2920 fps. This also happens to be a max load pressure wise. Obvious no computer program can be 100% correct so take...
257 is right for just about anything. Go down to 60 grain bullets up to 120's. Will you be doing any varmit shooting as the roberts will do quite nicely. It likes to be downloaded and in my opinion its quieter which i guess is all relative. If you're sure he's going to stay shooting why settle...
I didn't read all the posts but using quick load your original recipe says it should be coming out at 2829 fps second which is pretty much what you got. According to quickload 55.9 grs. of h4350 might be a better MAX load to work up to. It says it should do 2954 with the 140 gr. accubond.
hate to be a kill joy but doesn't 75 gr. of RL-25 put you at about 73,000 psi. Speed is nice but you face has to be more important than that. Just a thought.
