A Winchester model 70 featherweight in 22-250 . Very accurate right out of the box and sure pretty to look at. For a scope a put a Redfield 4x12 on it. IMO the Oregon made Redfields are a great value for the money.
Guy Miner, Good choice as your main hunting rifle. I also have a Remington CDL in 30/06 that I really like it. Other than the trigger being stiff it's perfect. My main hunting rifle's is a Sako 7mm-08, Ruger No.1 300 H&H. and a Ruger M-77 stainless steel with a boat paddle stock in .270...
IMO CZ has it all over savage. I have 2 Model 550 ,one a full stock .308 and the other a model 550 American in .270 and a Kevlar stock. The biggest surprize is the the Model 550 with the full lenght stock is how accurate it is. I was willing to give up some accurate for the full stock but it...
I just recieved a Ruger Hawkeye 6.5x55 and the wood is just about that nice. A friend ordered a Ruger hawkeye in 6.5x55 and he got a real nice stock also.
I had a Glenfield 30/30 just like that one I bought years ago from Monkey Wards. It was a simpler time, but I brought home the game. I owned a Glenfield 30/30, 20 gauge Remington 870, Remington bolt action 22LR and a 38 Revolver.
Drmike,What a beautiful rifle ! Seeing Ross rifles reminds me of one of my favorite books. "A Rifleman went to war" by H.W. Mc Bride a WWI sniper who used a Ross rifle.
I went to E.R Shaw weg page and they say they rebarrel 1917 Enfields. There prices are $115 labor and $170 for the barrel. The gentleman who sold me the rifle wants to give me $200 back. I feel bad for him because of his limited income but it's something he wants to do. So I think this is going...
Well it's a bad deal all the way around. I only paid $435.00 shipped for the rifle and scope. I contacted the seller and he said he had to wait and cash his 1st social security check to make a $200.00 payment. I beleive he had know idea about the head space. I'm just going to mark it up to...
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19368 Well I went and shot my new to me 1917 Enfield 300 H&H and it was splitting the case right above the belt. Took it to my local...
A few years ago I had the great purge. I always heard a simple life is a happy life. Well, for all the good it did me I should have kept all of them. Don't take long to for them to come back with the internet.
Taylorce1 your 300 H&H is real nice. Guy Miner, your right it still has the military barrel on it. It's been shortened and crowned and like I said, excellent rifling. If it's all you had I'm sure it would last a life time. Hopefully Winchester will came out with a 300 H&H in the new model 70's...
I have one in 7mm08 that I bought used. Very accurate, but copper fouls the barrel easy.I have wondered (and heard) that the barrel was not broke in right so it copper fouls as a result. No problem on the the copper fouling, every 50 rounds or so I use Wipe Out. Excellent shooting, don't get any...
Bought my 1st 300 H&H in a Ruger No.1 a couple years ago and really liked the cartridge. I been looking for a 300 H&H in a bolt rifle every since that was not a collector rifle. (If Winchester comes out with a new model 70 in 300 H&H I'll buy it in a minute) I also really like sporterized 1917...
