    Farm rifle

243 Win is a great rifle for his requirements. There is a lot of factory ammo for it and the recoil is basically nothing. Coyotes, bobcats, racoons, skunks, or what ever he needs to get rid of will fall to a well placed shot.

    30 06 and superformance powder

I watched a video where Craig Boddington shot 165gn Superformance ammo over a chronograph and the reading was something like 2970.

    280 Remington. 150 grain E-tip

If you get the idea to switch to a 150gn Sierra Game King, I found that bullet to be among the most accurate from my 280. Those 140gn Game Kings are no slouches, either.

    Hodgdon SUPERFORMANCE

Gimmick or not, Superformance has propelled 140 and 150 grain hunting loads with outstanding accuracy and consistent speeds. I'm thinking of running SF with 140gn Barnes bullets or Swift Scirocco IIs. It's hard to do that when the 150gn Sierra Game King does so well with SF, but I might get a...

    .270 Win. problem

All the identified items on the rifle need to be checked for proper tension, no doubt. A 5" group makes me think the shooting technique needs work. A 270 with a 150gn bullet is quite a thump on the shoulder. Flinching, anticipating recoil, bad trigger squeeze, cheek/eye alignment on the stock...

    Hodgdon SUPERFORMANCE

The Hodgdon technician I spoke with said the individual canisters of Superformance not the same blend as the powders used in the Superformance ammunition. The Superformance in individual powder canisters is on the same burning rate as RL-19 and H-4831. Nearly every SF load by Hornady is...

    Pulling Bullets?

One piece of powder isn't going to be noticed. Shoot it.

Which powder would you stick with (pics)

I would shorten the COL and shoot 3 of each of the new seating depths. Don't change the amount of powder and the seating depth at the same time. Work one variable at a time to see if your changes amount to anything.

    Powder names?

I heard the same things about how BLC-2 and H-380 got their names. Superformance, is guess, is supposed to indicate super performance. Why would a company market a powder called "Underformance" or "Blah-Zay" and think it would be successful for handloaders.

    25-06 bullet

The 117gn Hornady boat tail with 52gn of RL-19 made itty bitty shot groups. Same goes for the 115gn Ballistic Tip over 53.5gn H-4831. Rem large primers for both loads. The rifle has a 26" barrel so its making higher velocities than the 22 or 24" cousins. A real pleasure to shoot and hardly any...

    Favorite 300 Weatherby Reloads?

Using either the 180gn Hornady Interlock flat base, the boat tail or the Nosler Accubond 80gn RL-19 (over the Alliant max load by one grain) 81.5gn H-4831 82.5gn W-780 (no longer in production, maybe still available) 87gn H-1000

New (To me) Model 70 300 Weatherby

I have a 300 Wby and I really like it. The rifle is probably as accurate or better than anything else on opening day. Practice with it and you'll appreciate its long reach. The real joys of handloads shine with the 300 Wby. The 180gn bullets have been the most accurate for me. Every rifle is...

    280 Rem & 140 gr Accubonds

Superformance, RL-19 and H-4350 gave great shot groups using 140gn Sierra Game Kings. Work on the bullet seating depth to change pressures and close groups. The 140AB is a fine bullet so put it where it can do the work and you'll be happy.

    Copper removal

To a point different for each rifle, copper fouling in the bore is OK. If or when it becomes thick enough to cause a loss in accuracy, THAT is the sign you have to remove the excess. You're probably not going to get it all, but you can get out enough that it makes an improvement in accuracy...

    Accubond in 257 Wby

If you're wondering about RL-22 and the 110gn AB, I found 68.5gn of the -22 powder with Fed 215 primers pushing the 110ABs made a really tight group @ 100yds. My 257 Roy likes the bullets seated to the longest length that will fit in the magazine so I've never had to work COL to shorter lengths...

    Barnes Question

The 100gn TSX is the most accurate bullet for my 257 Wby. Copper fouling is not a problem. I have heard not to shoot Barnes' in new barrels until they've have 50ish bullets down the pipe in order to smooth the bore out a bit. I'm getting full bloom of the bullet so opening up into the classic...

    7mm Mashburn Super Magnum

There was a decent article about it in Field & Stream magazine. It is a do-it-all chambering that excels with heavy-for-caliber bullets. Nowadays, a 7mm Rem Mag is an inexpensive alternative for the non-reloaders out there.

    Hunting loads for 280 Rem

Looks like you're ready for the season. If you ever get the notion to try Superformance, I've found it to be a great powder with the 140 and 150gn Sierra Game Kings. RL-19 is good also. Oddly enough, they're right next to each other on the powder burn rate chart, according to the powder...

Anyone have experience w/ hogdon superformance powder?

I have used Superformance powder a lot with the 280 Remington. Hodgdon has some data for 120 and 140 grain loads and it is good data with the 140 grain bullets. I "wildcatted" the loads for 150gn bullets and it has worked very well --- around 2970 fps and excellent accuracy (less than an inch at...
