I'm hoping there is 200NAB data for the 35 whelen. is there any new 35 data in the new hornady guide? I may have to hit bps if they have them on the shelf.
I haven't seen any velocity variations with varget. I see a swing of about 35-45fps with RL 15. my little brother's 308 doesn't like either one. I have been chasing a load for his rifle for way too long. it's a 22" and seems to like W748. 748 has also been the fastest powder in his rifle.
but I...
I have a hornady lock-n-load AP. there is a bit of a learning curve getting everything set properly and getting a feel for primer seating and how to run the handle. I have never tried to run rifle cases progressively. I think you would be ok with short action cases and a free flowing powder.

quote="Oldtrader3"]Do you know how hard it is to have one rifle that is a true 1/2 minute rifle all of the time? If you did, you would not be saying this. I only see two half MOA groups. The others are nice groups but they are not 1/2 MOA. Close only counts in hand granades and horseshoes. Plus...
pulled a few targets off the bench. I may be incorrect saying these rifles will shoot under .5" by normal standards. I wouldn't say they are 1/2MOA rifles because they may or may not shoot that well all the time. I think they certainly shoot well for bone stock rifles with with my (low) ammount...
I'm not saying they will do that all day long, every day. they have all shot under .5". the next group may be .8 or .9 but I don't know if that is the rifle or the idiot on the trigger.
a 3 shot group over the chrono came in at 2446, 2428, 2455 with LVR and 160gr flex tips loaded to book max. this is a 2-3" group with iron sites at 100.
I don't have a vast knowledge of reloading for rifles but all my rifles are shooting under .5" at 100. they are mostly cheap rifles like marlin X7 and even a single shot h&r. I just kept changing recipes until I found what they wanted to shoot. I don't weigh brass. I have never weighed the...
I'd take the one with the best scope. ....or whichever rifle you like to carry more. the 30/30 may tear up less meat at really close range. I carry my 35 whelen a lot more often than I carry my .270 simply because the zeiss glass is better than the monarch ucc on the .270
titegroup for 9mm and 380. meters well in my progressive press, burns clean, good velocities, accurate, and a little goes a long way. 1200fps in my 9 with 3.4gr.
varget works in almost every rifle I load for. I haven't been loading rifles long enough to have favorites, but I will watch this...
I think you may have some trouble with the bullet coming apart at close range with the 120 in a magnum. it would be a devasting round but you may have to throw out a shoulder here and there. my son shot an 8 point WT at about 60 yards with a 120 from a 7-08 with a MV of 3030fps. the deer fell in...
59gr of RL 15 with 225 NAB produced 2590fps in my rifle. I don't think you are too far off. ...but I thought mine was a little slow too.
SJB358, do you have a lot# on the "slow" powder? maybe its the same stuff I've been using. =P
I carry handguns often. I always have one when I am in the woods. I have at least a small sr22 strapped on while I'm planting food plots, clearing roads, or hanging stands. you never know when you are gonna get mugged by a big rattlesnake or hog.
the nature of my job has me driving late at...
