    Case Trimmer

I have an RCBS electric laithe and the 5 station RCBS prep Center..... but more often than not I grab my good old Lee depth stop case specific trimmers in conjunction with Universal chuck.....fast, simple...0 setup....

What Brand Bullets Are These ?

I think the Hornady voters win the chicken dinner.... I just looked at my 9th Edition Hornady manual and it doesn't really show a actual picture but the rendition is pretty clear.... a very tight lead tip is exposed very little. They call it the 225 sp-rp. And Hornady is certainly well known...

What Brand Bullets Are These ?

Not to mention they'll work great on ANY north American game animal!

Looking at IMR 7977 in latest QuickLoad update

Quickload doesn't always get things right. I have some 7977 loaded up in various calibers but haven't been to the range yet. My version of quick load is not new enough to have it. almost every time somebody posted results with it on the internet I went to quick load and found it really...

    Decisions Decisions

Just a word of caution be careful with the Hornady brass.... I've used it before and it is very good stuff but it has less case capacity than normal Weatherby..... I found a full 2 grains less powder than my favorite loads in Weatherby brass was just about right.... and made them a very good...

    Norma Oryx .277 165 gr

I can't imagine needing a bonded bullet that big unless hunting something really big at close range. But, I sure DO understand how us Reloaders need to play with new things! I'm still hoping to get to the range sometime soon with some 160 partitions in my 270 win and 270 weatherby... I have...

    acceptable ES / SD

I've been following that website for quite a while. I've been reloading for 20 years and there are people there that forgot more about reloading than I'll ever know!

    acceptable ES / SD

I have a scale that gets me down to one kernel of powder on a load.... I'm sure it was mostly luck but one day I actually had four in a row with the exact same velocity.... I felt like I shot them all very well.... the group was ho hum ordinary! An example of one...I know....but it had me laughing.

I think both nosler AND Hornady got a surprise when they moved to plastic tips over hollow points on what had been a successful lead tip bullet. Those first Hornady sst were hand grenades too. I remember 140 sst loaded mild in a 270 win leaving near baseball sized wound channels. Pharm is...

    primer cratering and boltface pitted

I remember those and I think the sako 30-378 I have is the exact same gun they re chambered into lazzeroni. I wonder who they got to make those cases for them....and.... if I remember right the bullets they used had some kind of Miracle coating on them? Which is not to say some of the Coatings...

    primer cratering and boltface pitted

I always smile at the speed some people get out of the rums.... I have a 30 - 378 which has more case capacity but I can never get near those speeds without seeing pressure..... the difference appears to be the way Norma brass is made for the 30-378 vs 300 Rum brass. All I can say is that...

    primer cratering and boltface pitted

This is why I do 98% of my shooting over a chrono..... I have come to believe over the years you just can't look at appearances and make a decision on what might be happening....ie primer flatness, brass expansion etc etc. For some reason my routine seems to be shoot, look up the Chrono, open...

    Nosler BT Seating Depth/Jump

I try to start all my reloading at .020 off the lands. Then move back in .030 to. 040 increments.

New ammo ban signed at the last hr.

Looks like it isn't effective for a long time....most likely plenty of time to overcome it... Director Dan Ashe, a second-generation career employee of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, issued the directive Thursday on the last full day of the Obama Administration. It would require the use of...

Am I being too anal about copper fouling?

Let me add this..... I thought I had a pretty good grip on Barrel cleaning until I got my Lyman borecam off eBay for about $190. It has really taught me a lot in a short while anout cleaning and barrels in general. I was pretty bad at over cleaning barrels that didn't really need it is what I...

    reloading 30-06 with 30-30 170 RN Partition

Been thinking the same for my 308 BAR. But I doubt highly it would be any improvement over a 150 spire point partition. Sometimes us Reloaders have to fool with stuff even though it doesn't make a whole lot of sense....lol!

Anyone Tried Sizing Down Jacketed Bullets?

i swage down 338 Hornady interlocks to .329 for my 8 x56r Surplus. It does take a little effort on my RCBS press but it does work..... Imperial sizing wax is my friend!

    Cases not "sized enough"....now what?

This is what I like about having a quite a few redding body dies... you can actually resize and bump the shoulder back on loaded ammo. If you don't have one you're pretty much screwed.... and we'll have to pull them down... just be glad it wasn't 100 rounds LOL.

    120 gr BT

The rule of thumb I usually see on the internet is if they were packaged in the old days in 100 per box quantities they were probably the light jacketed bullet of the old days.
