Both are fine cartridges. I would feel comfortable hunting 95% of the game in the World with either cartridge.
The 300 Win with 180 gr and heavier bullets has more retained energy at extended ranges but at the cost of considerably more recoil. The 7mm does have an edge in Sectional Density with...
I have a Magneto Speed version 1 and my experience with it is as follows...
1.) It Does change the POI by anywhere from 2-6" depending on rifle, caliber, load, and the EXACT muzzle placement. If you mount it underneath the barrel it raises the POI the afore mentioned amount. I assume it would...
I have a Remington Model 600 in 222 Rem. It has a willowy 18.5" barrel that's been free-floated. I can hit over 3000 fps with 50gr bullets and a mid-load of H322. The thing can shoot but after 3 shots the barrel is too hot to touch. A nice coyote gun though but no marathon prairie dog shooter.
I put an HS Precision on my old Rem 700 and it was not shooting well. I saw a post online mentioning that if the sheet metal magazine liner was putting pressure on the bottom of the action it could cause problems with accuracy. I checked and there was no free play in the magazine liner. I used a...
I tried searching for old threads for this but couldn't locate anything for the 120gr A-Frame...
Only published data I can find is Norma MRP...
257 Weatherby
120gr Swift A-Frame
IMR7828
Nosler Cases
CCI 250 primers
24" Barrel
Thanks in advance... :)
Glad you are recovering.
I often leave for the range in the dark to be there at first light. This time of the year I usually have it to myself for two hours or more. I have shot in temps in the low teens Fahrenheit and as long as there is no wind and I have the right gear on I am comfortable. I...
Even a well lubed case requires incredible pressure to get it into the die and out. The case comes out with stretch marks in the body but will not chamber. Same cases ran through RCBS die require very little effort to size and chamber nicely.
Their pistol dies are great. I have 4 calibers.
I have a Hornady die set in 308 win and the sizing die is unusable. Seating die though is very good. But I wouldn't buy another set.
Anymore for new caliber rifles I buy either RCBS or Redding sizing dies and the Hornady Universal Seating dies.
Accuracy was very good. Far better than I was actually shooting yesterday morning.
Seated at 3.330 in that rifle they are 0.080" off the lands as measured with a Hornady OAL gauge. I have found that any of the "plastic-tipped" bullets what ever the weight shoot best at or close to 0.080" jump...
Results from my first try at the 168gr ABLR yesterday...

Rifle was Rem 700 SS vintage 1993 (24" barrel) . Seems to be cursed with a slow barrel...
I was going to suggest that the reason was the original 257 Mark V rifles had a 1:12 twist, newer rifles have 1:10. That was why Weatherby offered the short Hornady 117gr Round-nose loading, a very odd bullet style for this caliber.
Running both bullets through the Berger stability program...
I just loaded some starting load 168 LRAB in 7mm RM using MagPro. Haven't got out to test them yet.
Will post what I find.
My 7mm RM is cursed with a "Slow Barrel" so Your Mileage May Vary...
You will be happy with your choice Vince.
If the 210 TSX doesn't work out, don't over look the 210 Scirocco. As others have said, the 210 PT is a proven all-around bullet also for the 338 if yours will shoot it.
I found MagPro with 100gr Partitions to be very good. It seems to work well also with the 90gr Accubonds.
It a sleeper powder for the 243 and heavier bullets. Check out the Western Powder load data. They also have data on 105gr.
You might find that the Hornaday brass has a lot more capacity than...
