I'm using the big brother, 7RM with a 180 Berger. My wife's uncle uses the 7mm-08 and loads 120s, I'll see what he uses. This wind needs to knock it off, I hunt fields 75% off the time. Best of luck on Saturday, shoot straight and stay warm.

Where are you hunting? I'm hunting about 20 miles east of Waterville, got some decent young deer on camera, maybe two mature bucks, ones got bad headgear and the other is a shooter for sure.

Nodes are hard to find with a half grain jump in powder, generally .2-.3, so I would look at your desired velocity and do smaller powder increments. Also did you mark the shots on your target? If so, did any of your flatter spots group together? Ideally, when you do this, you look for flat...
I went with a 3 groove 8 twist. I have almost 1k through my current 12 twist so I should be able to rebarrel next summer. Did you use a gauge or a crush fit on a fired case?

Just ordered a 22-250 AI from X-Caliber during their 25% off sale this morning. I don't think I'll be building it until my current 22-250 barrel finally catches the dragon, so it will give me time to add everything I will need. Thanks for the heads up.

2800 is the sweet spot in my rifle as well with the 200 BT. They just shoot tiny groups with H380 for me. Warm and cold weather.

Went out with three test mules today, did a better test then last time. Loaded up ten rounds of Shooters World Precision (SWP), and the same powder charge of of Varget for an apples to apples comparison. Midsouth Shooters Blog stated they were for all intents equal. I've found that SWP is...
Received my few pounds of SW Precision powder this week, got to go out and test some in my 338-06 so far. Using Varget data for a reference I tried out four loads with a 200gr Interlock FB. Conditions were far from ideal, a heavy mist was coming and going, kept moving the rifle to my truck and...
I have some of the new Shooters World powder coming today, both Precision and SW4350, going to try and see what it can do.
I'll probably use 200gr HotCor or Interlocks to get initial velocity readings and then try either the ballistic tips or Accubonds.
I think I'll have it in the stable this...
I've got some 200gr BTs that I shoot at 2750ish with H380 and darned near one hole accuracy with my 338-06. Shooting in late winter last year I saw a bullet in the frozen berm, it was just the jacket. It weighed about 97gr without any lead. That bullet will work great for anything in NA.

That's awesome, thank you very much. It's a fun little gun but likes to heat up. Probably mainly due to the weather.

Thank you.
So if I'm hitting 2690 at 25.5 gr, QL predicted 27gr needed for that velocity. So would I just subtract 1.5gr across the board or is it in a curve, and I should subtract 2 gr or more from max and that will be similar to where my max should be? I'm not familiar with how it works, or I...
Looking to see if someone would run some numbers for me.
6x45mm, 22" barrel
29.9gr H2O
80gr TTSX
COAL 2.335"
25.5gr cfe223 gave me 2690fps.
Looking for what powder theoretically will give me the best velocity.
Thanks in advance!

Took the 6x45 out with some 80gr TTSX and shot them into some jugs today. Luckily I lined up 5 milk jugs, because I found it in the last jug. Test was at 100 yards, 2690 fps at the muzzle measured with the mag speed, which was attached for the test.

I just came back from the range with my 7mm RM. Wasn't my best outing but it shot well enough. I've tested the 180 ELDs and found a good node in the low 2900's, but like the Berger VLD hunting better. Bullets held together a touch better in water jugs.
Used 67.5 gr H1000 in new Nosler brass and...
Well Midway has 80gr TTSX on sale for 21 bucks a box, so I picked up 5 boxes. Gotta see what will push it fastest now. I tried AR Comp with the 70gr NBT, got under 10 for a SD but only 2800 fps. Going to compress the load a bit and see what happens. AA2200 is much faster than H335 for the 55's...
Hey there,
Just got my 6x45 R700 together, was wondering if anyone has any information on it they would like to share.
I'm thinking about giving Power Pro Varmint a try. I have been using H335 and AA2200 for barrel break in. I'm wondering what folks are using with the 70gr Nosler By. I've...
I load 43.5 of IMR 4064 and I would recommend you do the same. It looks like a relatively flat spot velocity wise. I'm getting 2740 as well.

I've long looked at this chambering as I absolutely love the 338 caliber. SS stands for Sherman Short, all built off the RSAUM case. I believe it started with the 7mm but I may be wrong. Impressive ballistics for sure. He is starting to use ADG for brass, and with all the 6.5 Gap and cartridges...
I went with the long cut version for my 7mm RM and Swift Scirocco's just to have a more full case in my hunting load. In a hunting rifle I tend to want near max case fill just due to almost always having the muzzle facing the ground as I walk or in a tree stand shooting downwards. I want my...
