    I'm a progressive now

If you do start casting, look at NOE moulds. I bought several other brand moulds in the beginning, big quantity Lee ones were what I wanted, that way I could pump out several hundred per casting session, which is great for the price, but I don't touch them to much anymore. I use four cavity NOE...

    I'm a progressive now

I found after switching to the progressive for all pistol ammo, the next step was to cast my own bullets to shoot in even more volume. Moved last year, hadn't cast much but started to in the colder weather. I powder coat also, so no worries about anything changing with ammo that sits. Sent...

cleaning the action / hard to reach places

Which brake cleaner do you recommend? Or I suppose what do you stay away from? What additives should we avoid? And why? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

QL request, .223 & 70 gr RDF, Varget

I shoot them at a pedestrian 2850 with 23.0gr AR Comp. Single digit SD, 20" barrel, loaded 10k off the lands. They fly extremely well through the air. SHM Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Quickload question 5.56 help settle an argument

This is why flat spot load development is important. If you get .3-.5 grains where it's pretty flat in your rifle, then the +/-.1 of a grain doesn't matter much. Quickload will not account for finding such flat spots, it will simply stay in a quasi linear line, increasing velocity incrementally...

Favorite powder for .308WIN in a carbine barrel?

Just loaded up some 165s and MR2000 to try in the M88 with a 22" barrel to test once we get temperatures in the positives. Been a deep freeze up here lately, the highs getting in the mid single digits for the better part of a week now. Will report back once I see how it does. Sent from my...

    Winchester model 88

I've got some 165 soft points en route. Went with a flatbase and a BT just to see which it will prefer. Will be trying AR Comp first as I have plenty on hand, then will probably try RL15/4064 after if needed. CFE is always an option, but prefer a lower pressure powder. Sent from my XT1650...

    Winchester model 88

I believe when my father told me about the rifle and I expressed interest in it, I loaded up some 150 NBTs and AR Comp. He forgot to bring those with him but I can always load them up again. Blkram, I have plenty of experience loading the a 338 Federal if you ever decide to jump on that...

    Winchester model 88

Only thing I've noticed so far is the extreme disadvantage I feel I'm at with it. I have a pile of 308 rounds I've loaded with 44.5gr RL15 and a 168 BTHP, but with a mechanical close on the bolt, I can't feel how they chamber. It's definitely going to take some getting used to. I'm going to...

    Winchester model 88

So my father gave me my grandfather's Winchester 88 in 308 for Christmas this year. My grandfather passed last year, and it means a lot to me. My father said he would probably take it out and shoot it once or twice a year but knew I would take it out hunting so it was a no brainier. My great...

Load help, 70 gr RDF in a .223

I'm usually that guy. I don't use Varget for anything besides the wife's 6mm BR, don't want her getting mad at me. ;) Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Load help, 70 gr RDF in a .223

I'm gonna be that guy that gives you info you didn't ask for. I use AR Comp with the RDF. 23.0 grains gets me 2850 in a 20" barrel. Loaded at 2.370, holds MOA to 450, haven't taken it past that. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Don't get me wrong, I just bought a second 223 bolt action because I can, but what is the plan with such a beast of a rifle? All I can see is Burt from the movie Tremors. I pity the whitetail that gets in the sights of that rifle.. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

    69 gr SMK 22-250

Stretched it out to 300 then 450 today. Chrono for five shots was 3375, SD 13.5. not terrible. From my earlier group, I raised my elevation 1 moa, and .5 left, which would put me 2" high at 100. Aimed dead center, was say two inches low at 300. Struggled to find steel at 450, connecting on my...

    69 gr SMK 22-250

I have about 150 60gr V-max loaded right now and another 50 of the 53gr variety, so it's gonna depend on chrono results. I feel like I'm right on the edge of pressure, but don't have any pressure signs to back that up with. So once I get the velocity I can figure out if it is worth pursuing...

    69 gr SMK 22-250

I plan tomorrow or Saturday to get back out and slap the MagSpeed on to shoot a few then punch in the environments and confirm drops at 300 and 450 if I feel like traipsing through the snow to the back bench. It will be interesting none the less. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

    69 gr SMK 22-250

Went back out in winter range conditions. Temp was 19°, slight wind from about 5 o'clock, and I'd be lucky to be above 200' ASL. My rifle will always put the first five from the range trip into one hole. I changed my torque settings a little, and it looks good. Load was 34.5gr CFE223, 0.030"...

    75 grain Swift Scirocco - 22-250

I found best accuracy with my 7 Rem Mag at .100" off the lands. They didn't shoot well closer than that. Just food for thought! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

    69 gr SMK 22-250

So my Cabela's special 12 FV has been a real copper mine. Shoots great and puts every bullet to almost the exact POI at 100 yards, so I'm not going to rebarrel until I abuse it at least next summer, maybe further if it keeps shooting. Anyway, I had some David Tubb final finish in 224 dia, and...
