When you get started make sure you have a long Mikes chart so you can make sure your velocities are tracking close to what is on there... I see he dialed in a 24-inch barrel of that would be a little different than a 22.
The powider chart listed up above goes by the fastest speed at equal...
My 2 cents.... I tried re 17 twice in my 2506. I did not get good accuracy either time but I did not give it a fair test with just two tries and two different bullets. in the charts above the powders with a little more speed than re 17 are pretty highly compressed or a little hard to find...
Imagine a high bc with re26 in the 270 win..... here's a post from over at the campfire....

Rick,
In my rifle, Alliant's RL-26 data for the 150 Partition...
Years ago my buddy bought two boxes of 308 federal match grade 168 mk ammo. We sorted them over my rcbs run out checker and were shocked to find 1/3 had over. 006 run out...some as much as. 011!
We sorted them into 3 groups.....003 and under.....004 to. 006.... and the rest over. 006. When he...
Fotis..... when you get that bugger rolling let's see your match this guy!
This guy has a ton of cool lever action videos.... he sure seems to know them inside and out!

.008 might be a little excessive for the bullet jacket itself having variation.... but I sure wouldn't expect them to be perfect and I would think you could have up to at least .005 in the jacket?
Any amount of compression on the powder could have a lot to do with this also.
I'll also put a plug in for the 125 accubond.... I sectioned one of these years ago and it's an awesomely tough-looking little bullet.... the jacket gets thick really quick on this bugger and the lead only goes about 2/3 down the body.....leaving so much base that the base is a lethal...
There you go and that should be a piece of cake..... I use one of those to downsize .338 bullets to .329 for my 8 x56R steyr. It takes a little effort for me to do that.... and some Imperial sizing wax.... I would think what you're going to do is going to be a piece of cake! Thank goodness...
Well... actually it probably isn't a good idea to use 130 data for the 125 GMX. The latest Hornady manual does not list a 125 for the 300 Savage but it does for the 308 Winchester and it's the 125 sst. When you move up to the 130 Hornady bullets they actually allow you to use MORE powder...
What makes me a little bit nervous about your project is that Hornady claims the GMX does not make appreciably more pressure than their other bullets. Yet when the powder Company's test them like ramshot and Hodgdon the data they come up with is always quite a bit lighter....like up to 3 grains...
If I remember right 1.5 inches high at 100 had me dead on at 200 with the first Crossmark... the next cross marks responded perfectly to 250 and 300....
I even got a reduced velocity load check to see if I thought the bullet would expand at 300 yards.... I ran a bullet through a two and a half...
I've got the latest Hornady manual and they do not have data in there for the 300 Savage and the 125 GMX. If it were me I would start with your favorite 150 data and maybe a add a grain later on. .... you might want to also cross-reference some Barnes data on their 130 and 150 bullets but I...
Brass is very hard to come by. If you buy federal ammo hoping to shoot yourself into having brass it's loaded so hot it will pretty much be shot after the virgin firing....just saying....get your hands on a good supply as soon as possible.
The uncoated noslers did awesome in my gun.... with my 2-7 Burris ballistic Plex I was even ringing the gong at 300 at our shooting range....I just wish I'd have had someone there that day to show off too...lol!
Well.... you're starting to exceed my bandwidth on help...lol.
You are using the "e" bushing right?
Primers aren't backed out?
If so I'm out of ideas unless a marker shows where your rubbing on the brass when chambered.
Maybe somebody else will pop up an idea.
Was all this brass fired in your gun?
If this brass was fired in another gun with a more generous chamber it could very well be that your sizing die is not getting it down far enough down by the base.... if you have a really good caliper you might be able to see the ones that are sticking are a...
When you see all that shank it make me wonder why they don't offer lighter wt bullets....like a 120 in 7mm, 110 in 270, 130 in 308. They'd make a great match to the 308 class cartridges. Just saying...lol!
My 730 shoots great with all the mid range powders....mine might have a slight liking for i4895. 748 is also a great choice a cross many bullet weights. I've shot from the 120 all the way to 162s and the darn thing is phenomenal. Sierra used to make a 130 ss pistol bullet that was awesome but...
