I have the itch again. This one is going to be a .416 Taylor pistol. Gathering parts now and waiting on the new frames to come out. It probably won't be as brutal as the 450 Marlin pistol launching 300 grains 2457 fps. It will be able to take advantage of the higher BC bullets. I just got a...
I have a bunch of Charter 44 Bulldogs including one exactly like the son of Sam used. I don't load the Charter Arms guns hot. My go to load for them is a 240 grain BBSWC over 6.8 grains Universal Clays. It is accurate and tolerable. I have one Target Bulldog that has shot thousands of that...
I have been super busy so missing all of this good stuff. That is a smoking load out of an ACP. I wouldn't hesitate to deer hunt with it.
Of course the Berry's plated bullets generate less pressure than jacketed bullets. That said I think you are right on track bumping the springs up.
Hunting 2024 in review
Kill 1. The deer was a 3.5 year old 10 point buck. Live weight was slightly under 200 lbs but my scale was acting up. From experience I will call him 180 lbs. Live weight. I used my .260 Encore handgun loaded with 140 Nosler Partitions at 2420 fps. The buck was 88 yards...
Saturday I carried the one of my project Glocks, a 10mm to the woods. I was using CEB Raptors for the first time in the gun. The 120 grain is as long as a 200 grain XTP. The velocity was 1434 fps. At 25 yards the guns shoots ragged holes with these bullets. The shot was 59 yards and I shot her...
With the .41 Magnum the 210 XTP or 210 Nosler 210 Sporting bullet. The XTP over 22.0 grs H110. It takes a really good crimp and a magnum primer but hits 1604 fps from my 7.5" Bisley Hunter. The Nosler also with H110 but 20.5 grs. The Nosler is softer and seems to open up quicker on deer. I...
The .260 Encore just keeps getting it done. The load is a 140 grain partition over 44.5 grains H4831SC in Starline brass lit by a GM210M primer. 2420 fps from the 15" barrel. The gun shoots like a bench rest rifle. Never had to track anything shot with it.
I shot the last round of local indoor matches with my G24 that had barely been fired before that. Its a blast. Doing it again in November.
I am going to shoot one of my hunting Glocks in Unlimited and the G24 in stock. Good practice for shootouts with hogs.
I keep thinking I need an pre-war outdoorsman but this one have the adjustable micro-sights kind of fills that roll at least for the moment. Nothing classier than an outdoorsman.
As of right now I have the vintage clothes, Western knives, the old S&W guns, WWII Hendsoldt binos that were taken off of a deceased German that are in great shape. Th only thing I am going modern on is the boots. I haven't found suitable footwear thanks to my 13W tender feet. I even found an...
I like old stuff. Can't help it. I collect old guns and shoot a lot of them. This year I am making a concerted effort to kill something with some of them. In particular my 1931 38-44 Heavy duty that was customized after WWII by Micro Sight. Someone added the smooth S&W target grips probably late...
That is a wide cylinder gap. My son and I shot two identical Blackhawks side by side with the same load over the chrony. One had a .006" gap and the other .002". The gun with the .006" gap was about 150 fps slower than the .002" gun. Chamber dimensions? Large chambers are detrimental when...
I finally got to shoot the little 44 after getting the other sight from Fermin Garza installed. I sighted it at 25 yards. Still didn't make it to shoot 100 yards yet. This gun will probably never see any light loads. It was bought with 3 purposes in mind. Packing for hog hunting, tree stand...
Some friendly advice since you are running without a comp. First off the load you are running looks like it will do the job. I would check the frame for battering anyway occaisionally. That load looks like it shouldn't give a problem as it falls in between 45 ACP +P and 45 Super. It never hurts...
