We got to go this evening on a short hunt. Matt shot this doe with his gatgun built .264. 284 yards and he used a 140gr accubond. The bullet was launched by a mild charge of H4831SC that was running 3050fps from the 27" barrel. We shouldn't have any problem getting them out at around 3200fps...
She was 30 yards out. Shot her right through the heart. I love this toy plastic pistol.
Here is the gun...
6" Storm Lake barrel
Wolfe one piece SS guide rod with springs for all level loads up to Super
Lone Wolfe trigger housing with adjustable stop
Ghost ultimate connector
Extra power striker...
I don't know what happened to my post but it went something like this. Call up Leupold and give them those numbers. I tried to plug in some totaly unrealistic BC numbers and never got the computer to match the real targets. I would like to know what they have to say about it. reflex264
It is right around the corner. I have my trusty firehawk cleaned up and ready. I am shooting 100grs of 777 lit by a 209 shoving 300gr .452 XTPS in Knight HP sabots for 1856fps and 1.25" groups at 100 yards. I have a Khanke 82 .54 caliber pistol shooting 425gr Great Plains bullets over 70grs of...
My best guess is somewhere around 5.5" occuring in hte neighborhood of 350 yards. The weird thing is my normal sight in with the 120gr BT is -0- at 340 yards but I still use 1 stadia up for my 100 yard sight in. We have been discussing this again lately. We are going to try it with 3 .264s. The...
IMHO the best long range deer cartridge out there. I have two .264s and my son just had one built. I have a good friend that builds custom rifles and according to him the .264 has become the most requested rifle caliber he dose. Everyone need a .264. reflex264
Ever since I started fooling with .264s I have had weird things happen as far as trajectory goes. I drug this back up for a gent to read that hopefully will be a member here soon. I have loaded his .264 ammo for the the last two years. His loads are with the 129gr Hornady SP and it acts a little...
I should have a perfect load this weekend that I will share data on. I can tell you now from using Ramshot magnum in the .264 with several bullets that it is in the top 3 powders for this cartridge. With the 130 accubond it is flat out awsome. I am probably going to hold velocity to 3200fps with...
Matt got his new gatgun custom .264 back several weeks ago but we just haven't had time to fool with it. It is built on a tang safety Ruger 77 with a Douglas barrel fluted by Chucky and Egore. For the time being it is still in the wood stock. Chucky bedded it in the wood so Matt could use it...
Hey Enfield Fan. We are not talking about sighting in -0- at 100 yards. We are talking about -0- at 340 yards. Sighted in this manner the gun according to the computer is shooting about 2' flatter at 560 yards than it is supposed to. It is 9" flatter at 411 yards than it it supposed to be. Using...
It is a lot of hard work. we have to carry the dear out of the fields without damaging the beans. It does sharpen your shooting skills though. I have shot hundreds of deer while doing this. reflex264
I guess I need to make it clear that I am not knocking the .270WSM. It is a great cartridge in its own right. I hunt with a lot of different rifles. I believe in finding a load that shoots good in your rifle and then practicing with it until you know it inside out at any range with which you...
First shot from a cold barrel at 411 yards with the 130AB at 3139fps. This load is very mild in my gun. reflex264
Here is the Encore I use for my beanfield kills. It has a 26" 1:8 Douglas barrel, a VVG hanger system forend and the Weaver V-Tac which sadley is no longer made.
I guess what bothers me about these debates is real world BC numbers vs. advertised BC numbers. I shoot deer on depradation permits in bean fields that are too long for any rifle to shoot end to end. I have tried several set ups. When I the smoke clears I will take a .264. Some of you have read...
This was an exception and not the rule. Despite the explosion the bullet completely passed through splitting the rib cage in the process. I have wondered if the deer was about to jump and the stored energy in the muscles coupled with the little bullet at over 3000fps did this. reflex264
