On Saturday it’s getting a airing at the range to zero it. First with some 120gn Nosler BT bullets, then when done, some testing with 140gn SST’s & IMR4350.
I’m kinda hoping it performs well. I’ll stick another pic on with it scoped & ready for action on 1st April for bucks in Scotland (y) (y)
Well here it is, Steyr Mannlicher Classic 6.5x55 SE, although it’s now scoped.
I put the Zeiss 8x56 (1” tube) from my K95 onto this Stutzen.
The Blaser K95 now has a Schmidt & Bender 8x56 (30mm tube) on it.
I have never tried Retumbo or the bullet you're testing, but I have used consistently over the years IMR4831 and the 110gn Accubond bullet.
I have the bullet seated at .040" from the lands and measuring with a comparator 2.870" is my cartridge length.
I don't know the bullet you're testing, but...
There is a movie ‘The Ghost & the darkness’ .. 1997 with Val Kilmer & Michael Douglas about the maneaters of Tsavo .. been there many times man & boy many hunters back then used .303 with fmj bullets to shoot dangerous game.
I have no knowledge of the .30-06 and its use in Africa in the early...
And so it did Guy, it remains a very popular cartridge over here.
But, you could have used the word ‘help’ sort things out on this side of the water  we did do our bit before you got here and freely admit, without US aid (y) our forebears would have endured a lengthier as well as...
Sounds like far toooo much gun for me Scotty, I like the gentler touch
Several pieces of good English stuff on this link though:

Unfortuately not. It’s highly likely/virtually certain the original barrel will be destroyed during removal. A bit of a bummer really as that was my initial hope.
P.M. sent Guy.
Thanks DrMike, nice to have it appreciated.
Currently, the original barrel is shot out and though all the provenance is there, before it can be used once more on live quarry, it will be rebarreled.
The original MSch M1903 6.5x54 chambering will be preserved.
A Krieger barrel is due to arrive at...
.275 Rigby is of course 7x57Mauser which is recognisable as the cartridge of choice in a Mannlicher Schoenauer of Karen von Blixen in the early 1900’s, others also of the period favoured it too and its popularity is still very evident.
Man alive, there are a few cool European cartridges & yes, the UK is indeed in Europe (Even though we want out of the Federal States of Europe dictatorship) with the likes of H&H and Westley Richards etc making fair old contributions with their cartridges, guns and modifications.
Personally, I...
I disagree with this.
I have one of these Lee Collet Neck Dies and have tested it thoroughly.
Yes the die is inexpensive and the process simple & quick (Therein lies its attraction)
The case neck/body run out is very variable, sometimes OK’ish and often not.
Certainly not of the low...
I F/L size to fired case headspace dimension.
The ‘O’ ring provides float to aid centralising the die to the case, as well as allowing tweaking up/down for exact sizing.
Setting the expander/decap rod .. loosen rod, drive case into die, withdraw until you feel the expander enter case neck...
You have to start with case neck/body concentricity as I’m sure you know.
I use an ‘O’ ring under the locknut and have a very specific method of setting up my F/L sizing die.
Also, very important to decap as a separate operation, then set the expander in the sizing die to ensure its...
Much depends on what the primary use would be Fotis.
I used a .243 for twenty years alongside four very good friends who did the same, for taking reds and three other species of deer plus feral goats and fox on our land.
Mostly the range was inside 200yds and the rifle/bullet combination was...
You guys are very kind.
Yes, it is difficult to obtain authorisation for a firearm certificate (FAC) here in UK, but much of an application depends on understanding and interpreting the questions on the application form, engaging your brain and writing what the police want to see. Getting your...
We live in a Nanny state here, with tree huggers and polical correctness gone mad.
It’s nuts!
When an application goes in, if each constabularies ‘rules’ (and they each have variable rules) are not met, they either reject, or sit on your application until you do comply.
After the Dunblane...
