Well, you have options to form it from others in the 30/06 family.
Not all is lost. I’ve got 200pcs of new .270 Win brass I’ll ship for 250$
If it helps.
Its nosler brass in the boxes.
Bullet performance on game, accuracy on target, ease of load development and confidence in all of it means more to me than cost.
Or BC, within reason. This long range emphasis on about everything these days is overblown as we know, and by far most animals are taken at distances where BC is...
Have you looked at cross sections of both bullets? I think it’s obvious the BT Hunting is designed for animals.
unlike the ELDM.
I broke both shoulders on a 120-130lb doe and got an exit with a BT last week.
3000MV at about 200yds distance.
.257 125gr BT
.257 120gr AB
And I’m liking what’ve seen with the 160BT at 3000mv. Controlled expansion rather than explosion, like the old days.
Id take a .308 200gr BT also
Do you use bushing dies and expander Mandrels? Together with frequent annealing that’s the best way I know to get consistent neck interference/tension.
I’m hoping it will hold stability out to 500-600 maximum.
Im thinking 9tw would be safe.
Safer anyhow.
I’ve got faster barrels for big Berger/monos. And more capacity to push them with!
The bullet is absolutely capable, typical Nosler results in my experience.
Those groups are from a 25 Sherman...
Anybody using a 1-10 twist with the ,257 115gr BT?
Ive got someone trying to talk me into that barrel but I think 1-8 or 9 covers my tail.
Im expecting 3200fps after FF/break in.
Get an external trigger for the Labradar, and a steady mount with 3 points of contact on the bottom, preferably hard rubber “feet”.
in addition an external power source.
You will enjoy it more with consistent shot readings and a longer lasting power supply.
I ran out of patience and swapped to the 153.5 Berger, it’s the bullet I had in mind when I built the gun.
I’ve got a good supply. Still FF’ing brass but I wanted to start playing with seating depth on it anyhow.
after sighting in at 100, these are my first 2 groups at 300yds. Measly 2780 fps...
