    270 Win Load for Caribou

Army SGM, I have a 22 inch barreled 270 that wasn't showing much until I tried IMR-7828ssc powder and the 140 AB. It does 2940+ with all bullets touching when I do my part. I use 60 gr of 7828 in my rifle with no pressure signs, but work yours up slowly. WW brass 7828ssc powder CCI-250...

Rifle Grouping - Winchester Model 70

On a hunting rifle the first shot or 2 are the most important! If it won't hit where it's supposed to on the first shot, either the rifle or you need work! I have a model 70 in 300 wby that gave me fits, it wouldn't group worth a darn till the barrel heated up. How many animals have you all had...

    270 win 140 gr /using RL-22***Update****

I use 7828 SSC with 140 AB's in my 700 BDL 270 win with all holes touching at 100 yds. 60 gr powder, cci-200 primers, 2940 fps. This load shoots so well that I never pursued any other load.

    30-06 pet loads

I bought a 30-06 for my youngest grandson and worked up a load of 165 AB and 58 gr IMR4350 for him. His first big game animal was a raghorn bull elk with that combo. By the way it shoots this load into less than an inch at 100 and he took his first bull at 250 yards cleanly with it!

    Featherweight Work

DrMike, I love the 06 I have in the featherweight, I noticed you put a good recoil pad on yours. I did the same to mine. There is just something about the feel of these guns that you have to love!

    Varget and my 22-250

Yea! I agree it's a lot for 1/2 gr and I'll re-do it. This gun seems finicky, I have another group with 5 shots that will hide behind a dime with the h414, but then it'll throw one. It's a Savage Weather Warrior with a 22 inch lightweight barrel so I don't expect miracles. It's also fussy with...

    Varget and my 22-250

I just loaded up some 50 grain bullets with Varget and 1/2 grain of powder sure makes a difference.

    which powder

My 22" barrel 270 likes IMR7828ssc. While working up loads for it I tried all the normal 4831, RL22, 4350 combo's. When I tried the 7828 the 140 BT's were all touching at 100 yds. 2940 fps, no pressure signs and all touching, I just found my load! It doesn't hurt that I have 8 lbs of this to use...

    Bedding Factory Synthetic Stocks

I have finished up with a model 70 with a tupperware stock, then moved on to a model 700 with the same kind of stock. On the 70 I needed some stiffening in the forend so I epoxied in (JB Weld) some pieces of hardwood in the hollowed sections then used the accraglass kit to bed the barrel with...

    300 WIN

I just chronograghed mine today with 75 gr RL22 and 180 gr AB. Got 3020 fps on a five shot average at 50 degrees F. This is a good load for mine as it shouldn't be over the top in 80 degree weather, but is still going to be close to 3000 fps on a cold day! 3/4 inch groups on the average at 100 yds.

    .300 Weatherby - 180, 190, or 200?

My former 300 Wby was a MarkV and really liked RL-22 in the 180 and 200 grain bullets. My Model 70 300 Wby likes 87grains of RL25 in the 180 BT/AB bullets, always sub m.o.a. groups. My son has a Mark V that likes the 200 Speer with 85 grains of RL25, again sub m.o.a., good accuracy and velocity...

    AO or Not AO

I have seen this debate many times and there are a lot of people saying you don't need the A.O. or any type of parallax adjustment with scopes under 10 power. Some even say you don't need this feature on the 4.5x14 power range for hunting. My own experience is if you want to use the higher power...

    300 WIN

Do a search for the 300 win mag and you will find lots of help. I bet you would have had a lot more response to your inquiry with the normal name of the cartrige here!

    rifle stocks and pressure points

I have a 700 in 300 WM that I tried a full bed on barrel and all when everything else failed. The first shot from a cold barrel it would be touching the forend, the next it would start to come away, and by the third it would be fully away at the bottom, but touching on one side. Evidently metal...

    rifle stocks and pressure points

Sniper I feel your pain, sometimes it seems like it's just easier to sell the rifle and get another! If you reach that level, just get a Tikka t3 and load up some RL-22 in the 180 BT or AB and shoot some half inch groups in a 300 WSM.

    rifle stocks and pressure points

If you absolutely need a pressure point, use it knowing the warmer the barrel is the more chance of changing p.o.i. If you possibly can get one to shoot well free floated, that's the way to go. Did you try sanding clearance in that area ahead of the recoil lug? I would try this before a pressure...

    Reloader 25 for 300 and 257 Bee

I have had the same results with my model 70 300 Wby and 180 AB's. I haven't chronographed in low temperatures, but it shoots real well from 80 degrees down to the teens (chrono's 3250 + - a little at 70 F). My son also uses the rl-25 in his Mark V 300 Wby with 200 grainers with excellent accuracy.

Thanks for 300 Win Mag Load

How much rl-22 do you use in the 200 and what kind of groups/ speed?

Thanks for 300 Win Mag Load

I have to thank all for their input on the 300 Win Mag loads, I believe it is JD338 that harps on RL-22 with 180 gr bullets and 75 grains. This load is what mine really likes (.540 group at 100 with 180 AB's). Also got under an inch with 200 AB's with RL-25, but the 180 load really shines! I...

    Boyds on EBAY

Chet, I noticed you have quite a bit of epoxy at the tang area, just make sure you don't inhibit rearward motion at this point! I had a JRS nutmeg on my model 70 bedded much the same as yours and broke it out behind the tang from bedding that acted like a recoil lug back there. Put some...
