I'm using Nosler's G1 data of .379 and a CED Pro Chrono. Yes, I used my local elevation and also input the baro pressure and temp from an airport weather service nearby. As for measuring scope height, I don't have a telescoping gauge to measure it, but feel the method I'm using is somewhat close.
I have an RCBS 505 and a Chargemaster. I ran a test using my check weights and the Chargemaster was spot on just about every time. The 505 was always .2-.3 off. It collects dust in a closet now. I love my Chargemaster and would buy another in a heartbeat.
Gents,
I went to the range yesterday to verify drops/trajectory out to 500 yds utilizing a load for my new 240 Weatherby. I'm planning to order a custom dial for my Leupold scope and simply wanted to verify computed vs actual drops. I anticipated a small delta between the two, but was surprised...
Thanks again Mike!
On a side note, looks like I may need to try out some AR2218. A 115 gr Ballistic Tip at 3547 fps!!! Holy cow!! My current pet load using RL-25 launches them at a skosh over 3400 and they're absolutely the surest killer of any cartridge/bullet combo I've ever used. An extra...
Thank you Mike! I screwed up though. Just noticed the COAL I gave was 3.10. It should've been 3.16. Sorry!
Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but can you please re-run at 3.16? Thanks again!
Thanks again guy's. Much appreciated. Finally found some RL-26, but don't have any load data for it.
257 Weatherby
26 in Barrel
115 Nosler Ballistic Tip
RL-26
CCI 250
3.10 COAL
Can one of you QL Gurus please run data with the following 3 bullets? I'm trying to get some ideas for which powders to choose.
1. 90 Gr Accubond
2. 80 Gr TTSX
3. 80 Gr Ballistic Tip
240 Wby Mag
24 in barrel
F210 primer
3.25 COAL
Thank you much!
Don,
70-72 grains of RL-25 and the 115 Ballistic Tip has been the most accurate combination in every 257 Weatherby I've ever owned. Also gives the best speed at 3350+fps. My second choice is the 110 AB and H-1000. Can't remember off the top of my head what the charge is. It was very close to...
Absolutely gene. Long range is where the 6.5 really shines. The 127 LRX unfortunately doesn't have that high of a BC, especially compared to the .277, 129 LRX. .468 vs .463. Step up to a VLD type bullet and the 6.5 easily bests the .277.
Kudos to Weatherby for listening to the consumers and also their willingness to bring a new cartridge to market. That being said, I was hoping for a 257,270,7mm based 6.5. Just seems like the 300 based round burns a crap load more powder for not much gain in velocity. Heck, I can get within 100...
