I have a 300 WM Hells Canyon long range. When i went to check chamber dimensions I discovered that distance to lands is 3.545max COAL. I am using a 200gr partition bullet. Due to the additional length how much is this likely to affect pressure? Rifle twist rate is 1:8 with a 26"barrel
On multiple threads I read about individuals coating the case neck with powder graphite to reduce ES/SD. How much of a reduction are people seeing as a result of this process?

I too have to thank Dewey and Scotty for informing me about this method. I am currently working with RL 26 in my 280 Remington. Will post results as soon as I am able to complete further testing.

After reading this thread, it becomes very clear that I don't do enough shooting or reloading! Please forgive me for my sins!

Two harsh back to back winters have done substantial damage to the deer herd in the northern part of the state. Fortunately, things are starting to improve even with the wolf issue. The bigger issue that I see that few people are evening talking about is that in the last 10 years of so is that...
I understand all too well. A couple of years ago a person said that they talked to xyz yesterday to hunt on that land. The person that had given permission was my uncle and he passed away 15 years ago... And we wonder why hunters get a bad name?

Scott,
+1 for the 308 Win with either a 150 or 165gr bullet.
I would strongly encourage your son to use the 7mm-08 with a 150gr bullet. Even if your son is recoil shy, he should definitely be able to tolerate this load.

Guy, Considering all of the new found free time that you have . Would be nice to send you a reloading project for you to work on. 280 Remington, 150pt and RL 26. Lol

Take every word that the Dr. told you to heart! I know being sedentary may not be in your vocabulary. This is a time where you should exercise your mind and listen to your body. I had one fourteen years ago when I was recovering from a serious car accident.

I my first hunting experiences in Wisconsin was for squirrel, snowshoe hare and grouse on the south shore of Lake Superior almost 40 years ago. I hunt those same stomping grounds today. Though I almost only hunt deer their now on a family farm. I may think about wolf hunting when the courts...
