I am inclined to believe that the marks on the shoulder of the brass are likely to be something in the chamber. I doubt that it is a hydraulic dent because the dents appear too square on the edges. As for pressure,doubt that its a hot load. If you look at the latest Nosler manual they go up...

I am man enough to admit that I sold a 280 Remington chambered in a Model 70 Featherweight. As a result, I was able to upgrade to a Mark V ultralight also chambered in a 280Remington!
I know that weatherby rifles have the reputation for having a long freebore. Is this rule also the case for non weatherby cartridges chambered in a weatherby rifle? The rifle in question is a Mark V chambered in 280 Remington.

Midwayusa has 7mm-08 Nosler brass on clearance price now. I would encourage you to get 6 boxes from the same lot. I believe that Nosler brass is superior to the other choices that you listed.

I finally had the time to test the new chronograph today. The first load tested is a 260Remington model 7. 43.0gr IMR4350, 120gr bt WLR primer, nosler brass. 2668 fps muzzle velocity with a SD of 5.6 group size .344" at 100 yards! (no picture)

With a probable cow elk hunt on the horizon what bullets should be my first choice. I know the 150gr partition is a strong candidate. My question is would a 150gr nosler bt be stout enough for the task?
