    .270 WSM 140 Accubond w/ RL22

As all of my posted RL22 loads were MAX. in my rifle, I will be trying some RL 26 w/ 150PTs as suggested. That should be a great elk load! all the best, Jim

    .270 WSM 140 Accubond w/ RL22

I don't visit here very often, so I'll try to get caught up. From the Mod. 70s 24" bbl., all loads chronographed over an old PACT, new batterie.. 67.0/RL22 drives the 130AB to 3300 fps, into 1/2" at 100. 66.0/RL22 drives the 140AB to 3185 fps into + - 0.30" at 100. 64.0/RL22 drives the 150PT...

New brass vs. once fired brass ?

Ammo loaded with new brass, usually, feeds very smoothly in the rifle. After firing, depending on chamber size, some cases aren't feeding as smoothly as new ones. I will set the sizing die where the once fired ammo will enter the chamber with the slightest feel of the chamber. Set the OAL where...

    Seating Depth Consistency

Got my attention; so I just measured 10 of my last handloads for the 270wsm. Loaded with 140 NABs: 2.841, 2.841, 2.841 (yawn) 2.841, 2.841, .... and so on. Test-round used to adjust seating-die is set at 2.841. Bullet-seating dies used are RCBS.

    Winchester Model 69A

I have had a 69A, Target model, blued-bolt, since the 1960s. The receiver is not grooved. The nicer model had a chromed trigger guard and bolt. I wish I had all the ,22LR ammo that's gone thru that rifle. The triggers in these rifles is not a "match" quality trigger, somewhere around 4-6# pull...

    .244 Rem

The 1x12" twist in those early Remington 244 rifles seamed to favor a 100 gr. Hornady round-nose bullet. I used 42.0/ 4350 for my best groups. My best 85 gr. load was with a Sierra spritzer and 46.0/ 4831 and a std. LR primer. YMMV

    Model 70 Discontinued?

My recently acquired Win. 70 is marked on the receiver "Made In USA". The barrel is marked " Made In USA assembled in Portugal". Somebody wiser than I may know what all that means. I can say this for the finished product, it is smooth as glass, well assembled, cleans as easy an any rifle I own...

    Grizzly/Brown bear bullet, .375 H&H ?

If Griz was on the menu, I'd carry that .375 and a belt-ful of 300 gr. Nosler partitions. That way I'd feel welcome in any kind of hunting country.
