All of the above listed bullets and other stuff, AND a steady supply of all Accubond bullets, as many of us shoot all year 'round, not just around hunting season.
Thanks,
There may be gun buyers out there that want a 22" .300 magnum rifle, and certain gun mfgs. offer them. When I looked into getting a .270 wsm, I found a factory rifle with a 22" tube. Got one with a 24" barrel.
There's something to be said about having a stash of scopes, just in case, ya know.
And to sell a Sako 375 H&H to buy a scope .... REALLY???? .... never!
All the best,
Guy,
Some 45 years ago it was Park policy to trap-out the trouble-maker bears and transplant them about 100 miles to the south. In 1975, I saw the hide of a Griz hanging in a Wyoming ranch shed, after meeting his untimely death nearby.
And yes the old 45/70 still makes a comfortable buddy...
There was an article in Eastman's Hunting Journal, Sept. issue, about a .30 (300) Nosler cartridge/rifle development. The rifle used in the tests had an 8.5" twist carbon fiber/steel liner barrel. They test bullet was a 210 gr. Nosler LRAB bullet. The velocity claims were in the 2900 fps range...
Shot from my 1st generation stainless Marlin GG;
300 Hornady, 56.0/H322,F210M =1.25@ 100 yds.
350 NorthFork, 54.0/H322, F210M=2" @ 100 yds.
300 Nosler FP, 53.0/ RL7, F210M= 0.5" @ 100 yds.
All were loaded into Starline cases.
These loads produced more recoil than my old bones could...
In the past I have tried Vortex rifle scopes on two different rifles. The .300 Win Mag ate up the first scope in less then 25 shots and it took the .338 about 10 shots. They were both returned to Vortex in exchange for a spotting-scope.
Guy, I guess there are some things you could do to weather-proof your wood and blued-steel weapons. Hunting in Alaska can be a rough and tumble deal.
In my case, it would have to be a plastic-stocked stainless weapon in the caliber to do the job. When that kind of $ and time is spent, I want no...
Been too windy for 200-300-400 yd. tests of this load. Next week forecasts are good, so I'll take the chronograph then. I also want to try the 130 AB and other brands of bullets I have.
The barrel break-in was done as described in other texts and right now there are around 100+ bullets gone...
