Caliber : 222 Rem.
Cases : Norma, resized 6 times and annealed for the first time... :?
Load tested over and over and never had this issue.
Same bullets, same powder (and same lot), same primers, same reloading tecnique, same rifle, same ....everything. The only difference is that brass was...
BT 120 is the bullet of choice in my 6,5x57R caliber and it never failed.
However, before switching to this one, I have been using 100 grs. BT and it served me very well, too.
Both will do the job effectively; however, if recoil is a big concern, I can tell you the 100 BT would be easier on...
I am too shooting BT120 out of my K95 1:8" 24" 6,5x57R Mauser caliber.
Although this caliber is nowhere near the 264 Mag, it is quite similar to the 6,5 Swede.
I get around 2800 muzzle velocity and accuracy is very good.
Terminal performance on small/medium game (Roe deer/Chamois) is very good...
Here's a (bad) picture of what the free boring=0 for this bullet looks like :
I have drawn a line to show the bullet's base.
Do you think there's enough part of the bullets engaged in the neck, considering I am going to push it back further in by the suggested 0,005" ?
Thanks
J
Loading for the best accuracy....
My rifle is a single shot break-open kind (K95 Blaser) therefore I could go as long as I wanted (no magazine issues).
What do you Guys think is the best OAL in this caliber ?
I am particularly interested in using 50 grains BT, 52 grains A-Max and Sierra MK...
Just curious....
How do you guys clean your resized cases before loading ?
I normally proceed this way, starting from fired cases :
1. Drop them in thumbling machine....
2. Scrolling off the media, wipe them off....
3. Unpriming
4. Lubing (inside neck also)
5. Resizing (full length - without...
Hi Guys, I have tried this combination :
Hornady A-max 52 x 21 grs. Norma 200 - Oal : 56,30
I have tested @ 100 meters and chronoed it.
It runs 3000 fps in a 35 degrees temp
Not bad precisionwise. Need to re-test....
I guess the lower speed is due to the colder temp..........right ? :roll...
Yeah Doc, you are correct.
But if I compare my previous load (20,7) the gain should be around 120 fps, which should do the trick...
Also, as said, I'm gonna shorten OAL from 2,20" to the 2,13", which should help as well.
I do not know the reason why, yet  , but I get a...
Thanks Doc !
Always helpful and quick.
As you can imagine ...still testing.
I am on a quest for a very fast load for the 50 grs. Ballistic Tip, to be able to match the trajectories of other 2 loads I have.
So far, the load I am using (50 BT - Norma 200 x 20,7) seems to "loose" too much drop...
Is there Anyone who can please run these two combinations, please :
- Norma 200 powder + Nosler 50 grs. Ballistic Tip bullet (G1 B.C. 0,238)
- Norma 200 powder + Nosler 55 grs. Ballistic Tip bullet (G1 B.C. 0,267)
....in a 20" barrel length.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Thanks Doc !
Precise and swift as usual
I will give it a try....
Btw, impressive results on run-out on the resized brass (Winchester).
From once-fired brass and RCBS standard FL Dies, on 25 cases, I've got n.2 cases running on 2/100 and the rest staying within 1/100 with some very...
Updates....
I kinda had some good results with Viht.N 133 x 21 grs. behind Lapua 55 Fmj

Range 200 m. (220 yds.) - Blaser K95 Break open rifle
Am I on a good path or do I need to work harder ?
TY
The saga goes on.......
For the moment I am working up loads with Vihtavuori N160 powder and the following bullets :
- Hornady 178 grs. A-Max
- Hornady 180 grs. BTSP Interlock
- Nosler 150 grs. BT
- Nosler 180 grs. BT
Is there Anyone who could run QL for the A-Max, please ?
TY
I do not have the products you are mentioning..
I do have Hoppe's and Robla (the latter quite a bit strong though)...
What if I use gun oil ? Does it cut it ?
Redding recommends cleaning if needed and I am not sure if it's the case (brand new die).
