Hi Folks,
I just got this Die and was wondering whether it needs cleaning before use or not.....
If so, what should I use ?
Something like Hoppe's would it be good ?
Thanks
Finnish powders, very well known in Europe (former Kemira).
For .223 and 55 grainer you should be good with N133, while for heavier bullets probably N140 is gonna be slightly better.
I use Vihtavuori in the following calibers :
.222 Rem --> N133 - N140
5,6x50R Mag --> N140
6,5x57R...
I see that most of You have endorsed the 180 grs., and the AB seems to have a few Fans
Could you give me some "recipe" to try out ?
Thank you All
J
I am shortly going to start reloading for this caliber for a Buddy of mine.
What do you guys think would be the best bullet weight/type for long range hunting for Deer and Elk ?
I have run a software and the 165 AB comes out pretty well..., better than I thought it would.
Actually, I was going...
Is there any Good Fella  out there who can run these two combinations, please :
- Vihtavuori N133 powder + Lapua Fmj 55 grs. bullet (B.C. 0,251)
- Vihtavuori N133 powder + Norma SP 50 grs. bullet (B.C. 0,185)
....in a 20" barrel length.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Jim, thanks for the heads up, but brass in this case has been fired twice only and inside of collet well cleaned with a brush, so it should not be the case.
I have tried with .2236 and tension "manually measured" seems OK.
I will try to seat and load 4-5 rounds to test.
I previously used a...
Thanks for your quick answer.
The mandrel I have tried to use was .2230, way too tight, as I have experienced a very bad run out and too much "force" necessary to seat (Seater was marking a clear ring on the bullet's ogive).
I have measured the olive diameter in the original FL resizer die and...
Hi Gents,
I am working on an expander mandrel to be used for my .222 Remington.
Which size diameter do you think it'b be the best, to get an optimum neck tension ?
Thanks
More updates :
I am still working up a load.
So far no load has been sufficiently good for me, even though not horrible either.
I have come to a conclusion that Boat tail bullets do not produce excellent performances in my gun (Lapua Fmj 50, Nosler BT 50, Sierra HPBT 52).
Best groups I have...
Update :
I have worked on the brass "once fired" and I have prepped n. 50 cases Winchester resized, deburred and trimmed to 43 mm. (1.69").
Measured for run-out ; most of them fall into 0,02-0,03 millimeters (0,0008-0,0012" ?) and the rest within 0,04-0,05 (0,0016-0,0020").
I am pretty...
You may be correct on the heating up of the barrel.
I will try to pay more attention to this detail, for the next testing...
As far as shooting, I am not concerned at all for the performance of the shooter, when I am testing a load.
What I care for is to get the best possible conditions to...
That's for sure !
Anyway, my intentions were to use this load on Roe deer up to 200 meters (if wind allows...).
Mmhh, normally two shots in a row, followed by a 2-3 minutes pause...
Why's that ?
I was testing the Rifle/Load combo.....as I am quite positive the...
Mmmh, not really satisfied yet, I must say....
I am gonna work all my brass, as I think WW bulk brass "out of the box" is not that straight (anyone has feedback on this ?).
I am positive that accurate resizing and trimming (after the first fire-forming) is going to improve things a bit...
Hi Folks, some updates...
I have tried a few tests with no shame and no glory.
It may be due to new brass (Winchester WW Super) and new barrel...I hope so.... :(
