    Cape Buffalo 2025

That is a great photo. Folks often overlook the extensive use of game meat in Africa. It does not get wasted.

    Kudu bull and the ABLR

I’m giving a lot of thought to taking my 275 Rigby in spring. Your report furthers my consideration. Great shooting it appears you are indeed having a great safari.

    Black Friday

Not sure where you are but Catherine and I were camped last weekend above Index, along the Skykommish River. Saw a good looking bear at about mile six on our way out on Sunday. Index -Galena road.

    One more yard buck.

On our way home today, just inside the city limits, still doing 45 mph. “Did you see that buck” but Cat had missed him. I gotta show you where he’s bedded. Our town is pretty quiet so I just backed down the road about a 100 yards. “ see him now” I ask. I get the old evil eye. “How the hell did...

    N560 300HH# 1

Last outing with the 300 HH produced pretty good groups using N560 and 180 Accubonds. What I failed to mention was I was tight to the Lands. .014 off. This morning I decided to try my standby load of 69.0 Gr. Of RL19 /180 Accubond/ at .014 off. First three rounds into .174 inches. I quit right...

    A little too small

I don’t think that fence would have stopped him nor my .45. There are a lot of cattle in this area this guy is unique for sure.

    A little too small

Ran into a few Mule Deer bucks this morning while doing a six mile hike with the dogs. They have potential but I think I would give them another year. Then I ran into this Angus Bull. I’m glad he was on the other side of the fence. He saw me coming from about 400 yards away. He was 200 yards...

    Powder consistency with Dillon 550B

Did you weigh your cases first? I’m still waiting on my first cup of coffee but it looks like a variance of less than a tenth of a grain. I see that in rifle cases routinely. I think my Dillion is still in the observation room at my old department. I should check on that!

Clearly I’m not making full use of OnX. I’ve hunted pheasant over there on the refuge and seen some real nice whitetails, but it’s been awhile.

    Historic Viking war ship

Last year I posted photos of a full scale, hand built, authentic construction technique Viking ship under construction. Ship is based on drawings from 1040 AD. Yesterday was the shakedown cruise from Anacortez to Resario beach(, San Juan Islands) today through Deception Pass to Coronet Bay. Over...

Load Development Methodology - .257 WSM

One of the beautiful things about hand loading, rifles and particularly wildcats, there is a little bit of witchcraft involved. My 338 Jarrett has slightly more case capacity than the 340 Bee. Should be able to exceed max loads for the 340. I can but not by the same percentage the Jarrett...

    Skinner Optics 1-6x24

Um, ok, sharper recoil than the 458 Lott? I've shot 416 Rigby and Remington, it's not them. Not470 or 577ne. 404 Jeffry or 505Gibbs? 378 or 460 bee, perhaps.?
