Mod 700 BDL, factory 24" in 300 Wby. Bedded into aftermarket synthetic stock. All metal and mounts Parkerized. Only 28 rds fired in it. Trigger adj professionlley to a sweet, clean break (not too light/heavy) Decelerator pad, no brake. Plus a new box of Weatherby 180 TTSX ammo ($110 value) $...
Well, well, well! After a long discussion with the Physical Therapist today...I decided NOT to chance it! Falling back to 30-06/270 level (with good Pads, i.e. LimbSaver for now) gonna sell the 300 Wby and stuff. Its OK, for the way I hunt anymore, thats more than plenty! I could of killed 4 of...
I'm getting my new to me Mod 700 BDL (factory chambered) 300 Wby braked and a TT Trigger put in. I went to Walkers Earbuds to use in the Field when using a braked rifle. I know the brake will reduce the felt recoil, but was just wondering what any other braked 300 Wby shooters thought of the...
Looks like that N560 gives good speed with less pressure, if one can get that much in the case. I sure do like this N560 doc, thanks for the Tip years back!
I did call the Smith working on my Mod 700 in 30-06 to put a LimbSaver pad on instead. I had caught him in time. I've had them before on other rifles, very soft.
Thanks sir. The end that tears off the elbow does that to you. You still have one up at the shoulder working, so I can use my arm, just not in the full range.
I had read that damage could occur from the Recoil. I too have about 80-90% strength in the arm. So weight just has to be handled carefully. I sling on left shoulder anyhow. If you look at an anatomical drawing its the tendon on the inside of the shoulder that attaches the bicep to the shoulder...
Thanks Pard. I have quite a bit of motion range, just tender. I figure I will also start wearing my PAST Recoil Shield at the Range. Along wiith the brake/good pad I should be fine. From what I can ascertain, any damage is from "prolonged, accumulative recoil, i.e. 200-400 rds of Trap etc." I...
I developed this (the Long Head tore, resulting in the bicep balling up into what is called "Popeye Arm") back in early summer. I have shot my Kimber 270 all summer, no issues. Then shot the 338 RPM (its braked) sparingly, with no issues. But I decided to go to Sporter Weight rifles again. I'm...
I have a Remington factory rifle in the BEE, but have not had time to check the seating depth, leade or anything. I would "assume" it being a SAAMI cartridge that Remington would have the same long throat/leade. I'll be checking it for sure. Thanks for the info, sounds, so far, like the Hornady...
What brass and primer are you using Pard? I have seen some older Dupont data that shows 83gr 7828/200, must be running 65K I would think. I like to be around 64K, just for grins. I have used what I call "hot loads" in Norma brass (Wby) and they are just too soft, primer pockets open up pretty...
Thanks guys! I haven't had any R22 for years now, but I shot alot of it "back in the day", ha. I had a bit of an issue with it in my first 280 Ackley. My load was fine up here in Utah, but an early February exotics hunt in Texas gave me flat primers and "almost" stuck bolt! Spooked me. ha
Thanks Pard! I have heard people bad-mouth Douglas barrels for decades, but every one I ever had was very accurate! I don't know if they can't shoot or its the barrel they ended up with, for me, I like Douglas.
