Eliminating dust issues in tumblers using walnut

Personally I switched to a stainless steel pin tumbler a few years ago and have never looked back. Dirtiest range brass you can find comes out looking brand new after a 3-4 hour tumble with a little dish soap and citric acid. Quick rinse and either dry on low in the oven or for a few days in...

    375 RUGER

Go troll elsewhere. Plenty of keyboard warriors such as yourself out there on other forums you can do battle with.

    Tubbs Final Finish

Very interesting thread and anxiously awaiting your results. I've got a mid 2000's 700 that may be a candidate.

    Gas Prices.

Ugh. Went up $.40 overnight down on the Kenai to $4.29 last week the day I left for work. Afraid to ask my wife what it is at this point. Will probably hit $5 before I'm home next week.

QL request; 257 Roberts; 115 gr; looking for 2950 fps

Doc ran one for me awhile back on that combo. I'm sure it'll pop up if you do a search. I was able to get just about 2950 with RL22 out of a 22" barrel. That was an over book load though as I can load the cartridges super long in my mauser.

    Book vs. Real World

She should definitely serve me well Gil. Picked her up for a song about a year ago as I needed to replace the stock. Had a catastrophic break at some point that someone tried to repair but it didn't pass muster with me. Had my gunsmith go ahead and drop her into an express stock with a pillar...

    257 Roberts cases

Keep you're eye out on SPS as well for brass Jimbeaux. I noticed the other day that they had some 2nds on loaded ammo for the Bob as well as some 25cal bullets so they may have some more components at some point. I lucked into 100pcs of brass for mine this summer I think it was just randomly off...

    Book vs. Real World

I appreciate you taking the time on that write up Gil. I'm not overly concerned about it. It's an old rifle in years, circa '69 Model 70 super grade, but young in round count so that may very well be something to it. My '06 was the same way.

    Book vs. Real World

Thanks Tack. Yeah I'll definitely take the accuracy over the speed. A 210PT going 2800+ will still lay it down. Interestingly enough I'm actually a bit shorter than book at the moment on this one. Though I've definitely run into it with longer than book in the past on a couple. We'll see what...

    Book vs. Real World

Thanks guys. Right at 200fps slower than book at the moment with 76gr of RL19 behind some 210 Partitions. Technically a compressed load but with the long tube drop funnel I've still got some room to play with. I've got some experience with lot to lot differences in the Alliant powders so maybe I...

    Book vs. Real World

How often do you fine folks find that the book data matches up pretty close to what you're seeing in the real world with respect to load/fps? Personally I hardly ever see correlation between the two. Case in point I'm currently working a ladder for a new 338WM. I'm currently 1 grain below max...

Seeing some easing on reloading supplies.

Got a pound of Varget at a local Sportsmans Warehouse the other day. $50 with tax. Whoa now. Won't be stocking up at that price though I'm glad to have it.

    6mm E-Tips... Availability???

Looks like they've been doing some 6mm runs. There have been/are some BT's and Accubonds on SPS. Etips may follow.

    Damn

Awesome find. I like the halfway bleached look to it too from laying around awhile. Kind of piebald. Will surely be a nice hanger. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

My First and a Lesson or Two

These are about the cheapest I've seen the 225 Accubonds. Will save a fair amount over Midway. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/915488739 Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

muzzle brakes and recoil reduction question

My take on muzzle breaks is that they're awesome but they're also just for the range/practice with any given rifle so they have to be removable for the field. When shooting with one any Dr. would recommend double ear protection with them, i.e. plugs and muffs. This obviously isn't always...

New to me - 1983 Rem 700 Mountain in 280 Rem

Very nice. Had my eye on a 700 Mountain in 7X57 not too long ago. Went for a bit more than I wanted to spend though. She's a beaut and a great caliber to boot. I'm sure you'll enjoy her. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

    Organizing the Loading Room...

Plan for today is to install yet more shelving on "my side" of our spare room for components. Like others have said for some things I have way more than I'll ever need. In these times though better to be that way than the other. Plus I find that trading for things vs trying to buy outright is...

    poor/ crappy UPS handling

Yeah it's definitely not the carriers, it's the shipping departments of these retailers and they're shoddy packaging. I've had issues with them all shipping heavy items, i.e. bullets, just bouncing around in a large flat rate box. I'm not sure they realize that USPS offers smaller sized flat...

    Reloading Accubond Question

Due to mag box restrictions in my .375 H&H Remington 700 the longest I can load 260gr Accubonds for it puts them right at .260" off the lands. Just over a quarter inch. It shoots sub moa if I do my part. My '06 with them, also a 700, jumps .16" due to mag box restrictions as well. As others have...
